Rumor: TN with recruiting violations

It may have shown up on a Florida board, but it seems like the kind of thing Bama fans would plant there. They're never going to forget their probation years.

With all of the experienced recruiters on staff I see it being a cold day in hell before we break any recruiting violations. I am not worried about this at all either. I think it is just a bunch of jealous rival fans flaming because they have nothing better to do than obsess themselves with what is going in Knoxville.

Actually the rumor started on a Gator board, I think.

What's clear here is that Kiffin and co. know the rules and they will be using everything at their disposal short of breaking them to get these recruits to sign with Tennessee. He is coming up against the wall, but he isn't crossing it.

So why post an unsubstantiated rumor from a Gator message board on VN and get people riled up for nothing. Just curious?

Do you think they get riled up over stupid stuff we say?

Let’s see:

Hey everybody, a friend of mine who is very close to CUM’s daughter said that he had a secret meeting with ND and that he will be announced as their head coach just after signing day. Another inside source said that Tebow has signed with an agent and will be declared ineligible by the NCAA next week. I also heard from a reliable source that NCAA investigators have on video tape FL assistant coaches giving bribes to recruits. After a kangaroo court, their football program will be given the death penalty this summer.

I posted my reasons in the OP. It is a rumor that is out there and as Vol fans it is something we should know about. I said from the get-go that it was likely BS. If anyone got "riled up" over it, it was not due to anything on my part. I clearly stated that it was likely bogus. You don't think accusations of recruiting violations are of concern to us?

I am just as concerned about this as I was Spurrier’s accusation that CLK contacted recruits before passing a test and thus had recruiting violations. :snoring:

Why do you keep misquoting me? Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said anything about being concerned. I don't think anyone is concerned. I certainly wasn't and I made that clear from the outset. If you have legitimate issues with what I said, that's fair and I will listen to it, but if you are just going to make up things then I have no interest in discussing it further.

I never “quoted” you; so it would be hard for you to say I keep misquoting you.

I don’t know why I used the word concerned; must be something I read somewhere.

Well this doesn't sound like it will be a big deal in the long run. They said they are reporting it to be safe. Does this mean that if we did get found guilty that we would be punished by loosing shollies or what? anyone know the consequenses?

Half the country thinks Kiffin is blowin' smoke anyway. Maybe he just got tired of hearin' it?

I think we should be more worried about bringing recruits into an empty stadium. That was closer to some of our 2008 game experiences than blowing some smoke.

Man, I'm worried they are reporting a possible secondary violation...

The article said the coaches used smoke when the players entered the field but UT doesn't use smoke so that's not a gameday experience.

The field is part of gameday, and the stadium, so are coaches. Where do we draw the line? THIS IS MADNESS!

The fact we don't use smoke is probably what will clear them, if that's even necessary.

It seems the Washington Huskies reported their selves
for the exact same thing on Jan 22nd.

Also saw were Steve Spurrier's wife was cited for a secondary violation for writing welcome notes to the recruits families.

Does not seem to be anything serious.

from Hubbs

Couple of things, the secondary violation means a letter is placed in the file of Orgeron and Lane Kiffin for a year then it is removed.

They don't have to stop recruiting anyone and they are not pulled off the road or anything like that.

As for the jersey stuff that everyone is talking about. It is not and I repeat, it's not illegal for a player to put on a jersey. It happens everywhere.

The jersey thing was not an issue at all.

Ah ha, we don't use smoke during games so its not really a violation. Nice, just bending the rules a little, you know like saban does. :)

Yeah this will be as big an issue as the Saban text "scandal" from several years back.

Next...

now if we were a team with the worst CFB intro ever *cough* USCjr *cough* the smoke might be a problem.
