Rush Limbaugh has passed

“Love Trumps Hate”

I love all the little slogans that are thought of from that Ivory Guilt Tower. This whole moral high ground routine is hilariously played out and old.
The one that really amuses me is when a politician does something... gets caught.. then says "I'm sorry". "I apologize". And aaaaaaaalllll is forgiven. Cuomo will be the next one. Book it. He will "apologize"... the media will drop to their knees and he will go right back to work doing what he has been doing for years. Fleecing idiot New Yorkers.

Why on God's green earth do Americans believe politicians are something special?

I was talking about this specific comment: Your opposition is both subhuman and the cause of all problems.
Even you know that was the bedrock of Trumpism. Every single thing he did was built on that premise.

Lol, ignorant statement. Just dumba**ery from top to bottom. keep talking ignorance.

“Hate has no place here.”
As much as I dislike some politicians I do realize they are still human beings.... sort of....and as rude and crude as I can be at times.... I wouldn’t stoop to celebrating a death of one of them.... or a liberal clown media personality. These people do have families and loved ones that are innocent of their dumbfu**ery. People should keep that in mind

Nazi 101. Your opposition is both subhuman and the cause of all problems.
I thought after the capitol riot that the republican base may have been willing to try and ease the tensions and divisiveness had the Biden admin stepped up and extended the olive branch. Now.... with all the EOs and the impeachment fiasco I’m fairly certain that ship has sailed.

You seem to view me and my kind as the opposition and the cause of all of your problems.
I don’t.... I view you and your kind as a group with a mental irregularity that prevents logical thought.... promotes stupidity....facilitates cuckdom..... creates hormonal distress and rampant pussification

Nothing about soiled undies? Are you feeling okay?

Rush’s political view was NEVER the issue.

Rush diseased the Republican Party. He fed a massive group of millions to be rude, condescending and antagonistic toward its political opponents. He didn’t challenge people to think, he said listen to me, and I’ll tell you what to think and who to vote for. As a conservative, I have no doubt that much of the socio-political climate and extreme leftism we see today is a reaction to decades of Rush fueling his listeners to be hateful and rude adversaries.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't think any of the bolded statement is accurate. On the contrary, he challenged people daily to think for themselves outside of what the mainstream media was feeding you.

If the media likes you and you get into some kind of controversy, then the controversy is ignored until it hits some kind of critical mass and it can't be ignored any longer. When they do turn attention to it, it is always within the context of them "making a mistake" (i.e., they are always given the benefit of the doubt and assumed to have the best intentions) and are given a chance to apologize, which then allows them to move on.

If they don't like you, you are assumed to have the worst intentions, given no benefit of the doubt, whatever apology you give will be deemed insufficient, and you're never allowed to move on.

Maybe he can write a book on giving the perfect apology as a follow up on his Leadership book on Covid. Maybe he can go on the View and give a heartfelt sincere apology while Joy Behar sheds a tear and he secures an Emmy. If some of you don’t see what a joke this all is, it’s because you choose not to.

Nominated for post of the year.

I listened to Rush and read his book in the 90s. That’s what I thought as well. I don’t disagree with the issues with mainstream media. It not so much what Rush said but how he said it. He was rude, and cruel and he breeded that in his listeners who soon feel into an echo chamber.

Why on God's green earth to Americans believe politicians are horrible and somehow evil?

Politicians are people. Some good, some bad....on a continuum, just like every other facet of society.

I guess I don't find using sarcasm being used as a tool on the radio to be rude and cruel.. That's just me

You're not a conservative. The rest of your post I don't know since I haven't been a listener.

RE: NBA discussion and comparing old to new. This is kind of cool to check out:

NBA League Averages - Per Game | Basketball-Reference.com

Teams were taking 30 FTA's per game in the 80's. We're only at 22 these days. Average player size right now is 6' 6" 218 lbs and in the 80's it averaged 6' 7" 207 lbs.

You can see when eFG% starts dropping in the late 90's and how boring the league was (pace was way down) and then they change to allow zone D and banned hand-checking and eFG% comes up. Then teams started constructing their rosters and adjusting game plans to strategize around the new rules and scoring efficiency quickly became respectable again, and soon thereafter pace increased.

I tried for what I felt was the proper balance.

'He did his job well. It's just a job for which I have zero respect.
But he did put Snapple on the map.'

Proper balance for someone with a chemical imbalance is a situation where silence would have been prudent.

Yeah - I mean he essentially said "don't listen to the mainstream media's echo chamber; listen to my echo chamber."

I totally agree with the notion that the media had a completely self-interested reason for hating him. This whole "he poisoned our political discourse" is virtue signaling and pearl clutching. Not only did he say opinions they disagreed with but, similar to internet media/social media, he largely created himself a competing outlet (talk radio) that reduced establishment media's control and influence. I actually respect Rush for that. However, that doesn't mean that his show wasn't an echo chamber itself though.

It was the 80s.

It was the pistons.

It was a team labeled the bad boys IN the 80s.

Modern day players and kids have no idea that it was an actual war to them and they were bringing hell every night. The broke jaws, broke legs, body slammed, hip checked, close lined, punched people.

It was like watching a fight with a basketball thrown into the ring.

......and I miss it sooooooo much.

And every coach in America thought the were Bobby knight.
A Bobby Knight game was a thing to behold in person.
