Kiffin lacked "Class" That is why he is not liked. He did a good job with the roster that he had and some players made some real improvement during his time as a coach.

Crompton went from a serviceable q.b. to one that was drafted in the 5th round.

Wes Brown improved alot.

However; we got blown out by Va. Tech & we let a little "Skat back" get 200 plus yards against us at Ole Miss.

Also, I think that he used Eric Berry the wrong way on defense that season. He was getting 5 or 6 interceptions a season prior to Kiffin, then his junior season, he got zero interceptions or fumbles........

He displayed USC things on campus.

He ran his mouth about other programs and was made fun of for doing it.

He tried to take the recruits that had committed to Tennessee away from Tennessee.

Lack of class..............

Things that I like about Kiffin: (1) He said that we would alway beat UGA, then he did it.

(2) He stole NuKeese from Urban Crier

(3) DEFINATELY was not afraid of Alabama the way Fulmer started to be in the end and the way that Dooley was. He had courage........

I've said on here many times that all you had to do was start a thread titled "Franklin" and it would rival the Gruden threads.

That guy should pay rent for the amount of space he takes up on here.

Say what you want about the decline of recruiting in Fulmers later years but one thing the man never was is scared of Bama.

No, Tennessee fans clearly care but the reason why is what is in question with this thread. Saban says it's because he was successful and then left for USC after just one season. I say that he only won two more games than Fulmer did in '08 and his work with Crompton and alleged success are overrated (he had the Thorpe Award winner) and that Tennessee fans really resent him for leading us to probation with some very embarrassing violations including the Lacey Pearl Earps and Orange Pride mess. There is also the matter of how he left: calling our mid-term enrollees on University issued phones and refusing to speak live with the local media and essentially sneaking out of his office in the cover of night....No, we care. We just don't like him for reasons that Saban and posters such as yourself won't acknowledge.

We didn't not have to hire Dooley, that was all on the old AD. There were better options including naming Kippy Brown the interim head coach for a season until he had time to conduct a proper head coaching search. But, he panicked and hired Dooley.

I think our fans hate Kiffin BECAUSE of what he did here PLUS the fact that he slithered out the backdoor after pouring gasoline on the place and tossing a burning match on on the carpet as he bolted to USC. He took a dump on our traditions and history, attempting to replace pictures of past Vols with guys like Reggie Bush. He acted like a no class, insolent adolescent . . . AND he very nearly got us into deep trouble with the NCAA by bringing his unethical crap (born from his tutelage under his former boss at USC- the one that bolted for the NFL right before the sanctions hit the Trojans).

Lane Kiffin's departure, despite the subsequent hiring of Derek Dooley, was good for Tennessee. Had he stayed, we'd probably have been the second team to recieve the SMU-style death penalty - not because our infractions would have been worse than half the other schools in the SEC, but because Kiffy would have been targeted by every investigator in the NCAA's office). Why? Because Kiffin is a D-bag. Period.

when he was at Houston the last 2 years, he was discussed as the next coach at tx or A & M and has coached in Tx or Okla for a dozen years. He has few ties in the SE, and his recruiting relationships are in the tx/ok area.
We can all form our own opinions.

Would you rather have Kiffin or Jones as the head coach at UT? If your answer is Kiffin then rant & rave all you want. If it is Jones, STFU about Kiffin.

I would take Butch Jones over Lane Kiffin ANY DAY...

Butch Jones is the present and future... Kiffin did us a favor by leaving.. why hate him?
