Saban on UT/Kiffin

Bama people used to hate the guy. But now they like him and are trying to convince themselves he is an awesome coach. goes both ways.

I was never sold on Kiffin and I wasn't sorry to lose him as our coach. But I did NOT appreciate the way he left. And I knew that the ripple effect from ANY Fulmer successor leaving after only one season was going to be terrible for the program. That is clearly why Tennessee fans might still hold a grudge against Kiffin.

Since I know that Saban is not a complete idiot, I can only assume that this is a case of him trying to tweak Vol fans by doing his best Spurrier impression.

It's stuff like this that will just make it that much sweeter when we beat Bama.

**Side Note** its odd that Bamatrolls are not interjecting wisdom/facts in defense of Saban's hiring Kiffin and defending Saban's remarks in regards to UT. just say'n

Honestly, when you've done what Bama has done over the last several seasons, you don't have to defend much of anything.

:twocents:

We hired Lame to get his Daddy from Tampa... true story

The reason I have a general disliking for him is for the lack of loyalty he showed to us. I may be wrong to have expected that from him. But after growing up with Fulmer, the realization of the business aspect of something you have always known as family, hurt. I understand his decision, I can honestly say I hope he beats Florida every time they play. Doesn't mean I like him...

Dooley was just another bad decision by Hammy.

Brick x Brick... This is going to be a fun season to watch. VFL

Kiffen is a proven loser. Dooley never sold us out and actually had Bama beat and LSU for that matter and just always had those WTF moments. Then Sunseri happened . Kiffen will be Bama's version of Sunseri in Knoxville .

When did Dooley have Bama beat?

Alabama made a risk-reward decision. Kiffin did well with Crompton and ok with offense with a makeshift o-line. This is reward Alabama is looking for. The risk that are hoping to avoid is the brash statements and recruiting violations. No one likes the departure from UT, but he did bring some attitude and national exposure while he was here.

Great points.

The same posters that are already making their "wE deSpise Pain kiffiN" signs were peeing themselves while he was here giving Meyer and Saban sh&t.

I am not going to lie. I liked it when he was here. I was nervous and a little sad with Phil being dismissed but the Kiffin year was fun. He left and I am over it. Dooley sucking has elevated the Kiffin hate in my opinion.

It all worked out. We got coach Jones! A coach that wants to be here and not afraid of playing and building a program against SEC competition. Unlike LAME Kiffin.

I am so tired of seeing this narrative recited without any facts to support it...This is just dead wrong. Crompton was just as bad under Kiffin as he was under Fulmer. Watch his three picks in the UCLA game and get back to me about how well Kiffin did with Crompton...or the first half against Auburn when he missed open receivers left and right.

Did you watch the UGA game?

His impressive work with the worst starting QB we have ever had that cost us both the UCLA and Auburn games in '09 by himself??? No, this was a move for recruiting like most everything Saban does...Nick thinks Lane can help him recruit California a little better no doubt.

I fail to see where Bama needs any help in recruiting.

He dressed himself up in a tux, looked dapper and suave, got the homecoming queen pregnant, then left.

I LOLed.

Remember how Nick blew smoke up the UT / Dooley rear after the 12 & 13 blowouts? He spoke w conviction @ how we were improving under Dools.

Any other questions needed?

Okay that was Kiffen who had Bama beat . My point is that as bad as Dooley was as a coach he didn't ever turn his back on Tennessee the way Kiffen did. I have no respect for him whatsoever and never will.

(3) DEFINATELY was not afraid of Alabama the way Fulmer started to be in the end and the way that Dooley was. He had courage........

So that's why he had Alabama on the ropes and then ran into the corner with a minute left forgetting to land the knock-out blow?

I've never seen coaching as scared as the last minute of the 09 Bama game. They were there to be taken with an eternity on the clock and he played for a long field goal with an injured kicker.

Also, how did Tim Priest know the kicker was injured, but not the head coach?

Kiffin sucks. End of. He did not "fix" Crompton (that's why he looked like Crompton '08 until the middle of the season... because Kiffin and the guy who coached up Bray "fixed" him -- smdh), he can't coach as he's proven at his dream job, and Saban has him on a leash to recruit the West.

We don't like him because he came here, stirred up a buncha $h!t and then left us with the mess in the middle of the night - putting us in the position to hire a loser like Dooley.
Whether he was doing a good job remained to be seen. It was the fact that a coach would walk away after just one season into a rebuilding process and so late that it hurt our recruiting. He forgot that WE gave him another opportunity to redeem HIMSELF after Al Davis fired him and drug his name through the mud.

What's worse is he ran off some good QB's without any to replace them. Had Cam Newton in the bag if we simply asked. Kiffin thought Matt Simms was the better option.
We all know how that turned out.
