SAN FRANCISCO: Shoplifting SKYROCKETS , Criminals Aren't Being Arrested Anymore, Stores CLOSING

San Francisco is getting exactly what they voted for...

Same goes for most of the Left Coast...LA...Portland...Seattle...to name a few...and then Minneapolis...Michigan...and St. Louis (again, to name a few)...and a significant portion of the Virginia to Maine corridor. Oh, and Atlanta and pretty much anything from the latitude of Savannah north. You got exactly what you voted for.

Modern day Sodom's and Gomorrah's...all of them. Excuse me if I don't join in your sackcloth and ash-fest. You got exactly what you wanted, and now...go figure...you're miserable. Sometimes, one's purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others. Consider your purpose fulfilled. You'll note that very little, if any of that crap is taking place in rural America. Out here and there, we have a way of dealing with such things. Our way of dealing with it all but guarantees that those who do it won't do it again...

I have no sympathy. None. Zero.

That’s your opinion. I have been there twice and in my opinion it’s trash. But hey I love your little Dink like insults like rube. It’s what I expect from a simpleton who follows a bar tenders verbiage.

What does @DinkinFlicka occupation have to do with the quality of his opinion? Shouldn't his opinion be judged on how smart (or stupid) it is?

Some people like cities in general while others loathe them
NY is fun in little fits and starts. The air pollution in the city gets to you after awhile, and just the general rush rush rush of everything gets old. But to see city life... museums... good restaurants... couldn't give me theater tickets, especially some dumb **** musical.... I might visit 1 more time before I die. That'll be enough.

Why I always appreciate Chatt, but I am a homer. Not too big or small. Some city life like Yesterdays to see the band, chicks and party, where you met people from all around the city, or off to the country raft, rock climb, camp or fish.
If you wanted bigger city things to do you drove down for the Braves game or to Nashville concert whatever.

In the course of my full-time occupation, I travel from time to time to coastal cities to conduct Maritime training. I am almost always very impressed by the quality of the people I interact with; the hospitality they show us; the food, drink, and sights; and the overall experience. Boston, New York, Wilmington, Charleston, wherever...almost always a great experience.

But that's because (a) I see what they show me, (b) I am surrounded by fellow officers who are not going to let me get anywhere near trouble, and (c) anyone who owns or operates a boat tends to not be much of a troublemaker. So I never see the underbelly of those cities I visit. So...New York? Had a great time. I was accompanied 24/7 by members of the NYPD or NYSP Marine Unit / ERT / SWAT. Trouble? Never got within 100 yards of me. And the food? Ermahgod...I must have gained 10 pounds, and drank off 15 while I was there.

But to live there, or work there? No thank you. Too crowded, fast, loud, and rude for me. Oh, and liberal.

Country Boy can survive, but the odds favor me when I'm on home turf. There's nothing like a New York deli (had a Reuben that I still remember), but I'll take slow-smoked ribs on my back porch over all that noise. And congestion. And dirt. And crime. And Cuomo.

To each their own. I fit much better where I am. Guys in their underwear playing a guitar on a city street down my way are not an internet sensation, they are an entry in the passdown log. Usually, after one or two interactions with us, they move up north.

Dink's young. Young people like cities. That is one of many reasons why they tend to run so liberal. Dink and I are definitely opposite ends of the scale when it comes to politics and that's OK. IMHO, he is more moderate than some of the clowns on here, and I will chalk that up to the fact that he understands business. luther, bay, durden... have zero clue. From what I can tell, DInk knows food and drink. I think his opinions on those things carry more weight than anybody else's on here. jmho.

We need more Dinks, and fewer luthers.

I was going to post exactly this. Cool town, just don't go around the block at your hotel..

Also only city I ever had to pay to unlock the bathroom in a burger King..which was also the only burger King I've been too where no one spoke English, only Chinese...and I haven't been to China.

I like visiting Cali, beautiful state. Gonna be hitting up San Diego a bunch this year for business. I see some deep sea fishing in my future.

I've always thought San Diego, and the coastal cities immediately north (La Jolla, etc), to be super nice. If I was exiled to Cali for punishment. I'd request to go there.

How do you report assault before it happens ??

I can respect that, and appreciate it.

However, I was raised in a mixture of small towns and rural areas. I've only grown to love big cities more and more as time goes on. I'm back in Knoxville for now to continue fortifying my resumé and saving money to buy my final bachelor pad in a big city a couple of years down the road. City politics don't tend to affect me. I'm pretty deliberate with my routines and reasons for being somewhere.

Knoxville is as big a city as I’ll go. I grew up in a town with no stop lights...

I do enjoy traveling and fly about twice a month to major cities east of the Mississippi coaching. I’ve also driven through 43 states, while camping in most, so I’ve been fortunate enough to experience most of the country.

It does irk me a little when I hear my left leaning friends talk about how trashy the south can be... the northwest is worse in my opinion. Beautiful scenery but damn the rural areas are terrible.

Big and small both have their benefits. Neither is perfect or completely terrible. I tend to like a smaller place to live while having reasonable access to a big city.

I think you're of the age where city life is more attractive than small town living. But I think at a certain age, you prefer that quiet suburban with a big yard or rural living.

Younger folks like yourself don't mind the hustle and bustle of "big city" living where everything is convenient and close by. I honestly think as you get older you start developing the "don't want close neighbors and would you please leave me the **** alone" attitude and prefer politely nodding at neighbors rather than inviting them over to party every weekend.

I can see some city residents having some fun during city council meetings "decorating" city council members automobiles and/or removing non critical items like tires and wheels from their cars, since it doesn't matter and all.

What a shame. Asheville is (soon to be was) such a beautiful city. Liberal-leaning, yes...but beautiful nonetheless. Now, unfortunately, the liberal kudzu has taken root there, and Asheville becomes the next formerly great place to live that has started a slow, predictable descent into yet another example of what happens when you start electing (or appointing) idiots to run things. But...hey...you get what you vote for. Look at the bright side: when the housing market crashes, you'll already be ahead of the curve.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Exhibit "Y". Look, but don't touch.

And for goodness sake, those of you in that area who have allowed this to happen, please stay there. It's not that we want you to suffer the consequences of your actions; it's just that we don't want you to move somewhere else and ruin that as well.

But for the thieves, vandals, drug addicts, bullies, and other ne'er-do-wells looking for a new home...Asheville beckons. They have some great vineyards up that way. Just keep the grape / wine thefts under a grand...wear a mask to cover your face...and you're good to go.
