Santorum

I think it's more amazing that a guy that conservative ever won in PA.
Suburban Pittsburgh is basically indistinguishable from West Virginia. The Philly area and some of the districts around Pittsburgh are Dem, the rest are Republican.

He's Huckabee without the "aw shucks" and like ability. Pretty much the opposite of what I'd look for in an R candidate. Still, the Obama alternative is horrible. Reagan, Bush Sr and Clinton are beginning to look like real superstars.
I've heard some good stories about Clinton being likable and amiable to just about anybody in congress. But, even the 90's is "back in the day" when the clock hit 5pm and everybody on the hill could go out and enjoy a drink and a stogie.

I think that's the big difference these days (going back to that video); we used to be different parts of the same team, now there's a strict no fraternization with the enemy policy.

GJ should be on the ballot as a L
Pretty sure he will be on the ballot in most if not all states.

Maybe I'm some sort of nut and don't know it, but while Santorum's social stances give me pause, they don't really scare me off completely.

i wouldn't say I'm scared by them. It just makes me question...let's say...how hard he thinks about things.

Scared is probably the wrong word. What I mean is that I don't have that visceral "hell no" reaction that some seem to. Of course, most of those reactions are coming from people with libertarian leanings I think and not necessarily the GOP base.

I have not heard him say anything that is far from my beliefs on social issues. He would not be my first choice but I would be fine with either him, Romney or Gingrich. For me, either one of them would be way better than what we currently have.

According to Fox the delegate count is
Romney - 107
Santorum - 45
Gingrich - 32
Paul - 9

And the all knowing Gramps just told us yesterday that Santorum should drop out.

Eleven hundred delegates are needed to win the nomination, this race has just begun.

Guilty as charged with one exception.
It was Sunday when I said he should drop out.

Santorum: “I fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican Party and the conservative movement.”

But the great Reagan said:

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism … The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is."

Hrmm, interesting..Rick Santorum's "Real Concerns" About The Tea Party - YouTube

Looking at those numbers I only see one guy that should drop out, and it's not Santorum.

I've written about this inherent inconsistency on this board before. The GOP is all about less government, except for telling people how to live their lives the Christian way.

Whatever that is.

Some of this comments about gays are offensive. I believe his economic plan includes subsidies for manufacturing and some kind of tax breaks for parents (husband AND wife although I'm not 100% sure on this one). In short, he's got no problem with using the government to pick winners and losers. I like his winners and losers better than Obama's but still I'd rather see us move away from using the government this way.

Please provide examples of what he has said that is offensive toward gays.
