Saquon Barkley is the best RB I've ever seen

To be fair it was basically Lamar by himself this year. When he won the Heisman they had some excellent skill players.

Oh I agree, I just was responding to his national prominence statement. Their oline has been horrendous the past two seasons.

He’s 1/2 X Michael Vick. He’s a poor man’s Vince Young.

Maybe not even Vince Young .. Lamar doesn't have the level of arm strength that those two had, especially Vick. Athletic, yes .. but an NFL QB .. probably not and with D4Hs track record for player evals, he just got cursed.

A couple of long runs in a 9 year career don't make you a home run threat. Eddie George had a career average of 3.6 YPC. He was the definition of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. He made his name as a physical bruiser that wore down a defense.

But go ahead and make out a guy with a 3.6 YPC average for his career into a home run threat cause he busts a couple of long runs in a 9 year NFL career.

Yep, but in 7 of those years he had over 1k yards, finished with over 10k and 68 TDs and had over 300 carries in all but one year.

And Alvin Kamara wasn't the best. But yet he's the best in the NFL.

Keep believing college stats are a reflection of a players talent or potential.

Alvin had a good season so far .. best in the NFL, they have addiction centers for people who talk like that. Gurley was better this year and it wasn't close.

He's Michael Vick 2.0.

His athleticism alone with give NFL defenses fits.

His arm strength is NOTHING like Vick's and that's what made Vick dangerous having the wheels he had AND the arm to really chunk it. ... where do you get this stuff man? What, two fast running QBs' they must be the same right?

Vick led the NCAA in passing efficiency in 1999, a record for a freshman (180.4 rating) and the third-highest all-time mark.

Lamar Jackson isntin Vick's stratosphere.

That’s a stretch. Lamar’s one of the most dangerous players in college football.

"If I've ever seen another guy that looks like me, it's been Lamar Jackson," Vick...
Vick tweeted last fall that Jackson is "five times better than what I was at Virginia Tech."

He can say that all he wants. When we talk about truly special QBs with unreal talent sets, Vick stands apart.

Nope Watson actually has the ability to change his game and throw from the pocket

His first acl tear his freshman year is history at this point and he got hurt in practice so nobody knows how bad it is all this talk like his athleticism goes out the window is really premature

Nobody on the Texans is saying he’s done like you make it sound

It’s when u have 2 devastating knee injuries close together or on the same knee close together when you’re truly ****ed

Look tearing your ACL in both knees is devastating. Especially when they come in the span of 3 years. Plus beyond the physical toll, you have to consider what it does to Watson mentally. He's gonna be even more worried about getting injured now after getting two ACL tears.

I hope I'm wrong cause I like Deshaun Watson personally. He seems like a good kid. But I fear we may have seen the best of him already.

National prominence? They were 17-9 the last two seasons.

For a number of weeks in the 2016 season they were the talk of college football with people saying they should make the playoffs as a second ACC team if they win out.

I call that national prominence.

You're out of your mind. Lamar has elite arm strength. His problem is accuracy and reading defenses. Aspects on his game I don't think will improve much in the NFL.

His generational athleticism is what will allow him to succeed in the NFL as a QB even with significant flaws as a passer.

Agreeing with D4H...it just doesn't feel right. But Jackson definitely has a cannon of an arm.

It ain't Michael Vick strong and his footwork and mechanics aren't good right now. Had 4 pics in his bowl game and at least two of them you can see its an accuracy issue

Mayfield > Lamar

Definitely.

Lamar Jackson, by his own account, and Petrino's, does not have a very high football IQ, and struggled to learn the playbook in both high school and at Louisville. I don't think he is capable of managing an NFL offense.

Lamar will absolutely be a QB at the next level

Yea I agree, he threw that Hail Mary 60 yards in his bowl game, rolling out to his right, off balance. I saw that and was like :thud:. He has arm talent, and he's the best athlete in the draft, somebody will try to make him a QB. I also think he will do really well at individual workouts and the combine.

Lamar's success/failure won't be predicated on his physical talent, which is ample. If he can't cut it the deciding factor will be between his ears.

I'm not saying he'll be all pro some day. I'm saying he will be drafted, maybe higher than people think, because he has remarkable physical talent. The NFL does it all the time with QB's especially. You are exactly right though, you can't be a successful QB in the NFL if you don't have it between the ears:eek:k: . JaMarcus Russell may have had the best arm in NFL history, and many scouts said his individual workout was the best they ever saw. On tape he was at times inaccurate and seemed to struggle reading defenses. The Raiders take him first overall he ends up being one of the biggest bust in NFL history. Most of these QB's that are drafted high or low don't pan out. It's why Vince Lombardi said the only thing he hated about football was that success or failure depended too much on one player, quarterback.

That's the thing .. a lot of people, scouts included, get enamoured with some kid's pro day but those are supposed to make a kid look great whether they really are or not.

JM might be the best possible example of how physical ability at the QB position simply isn't enough in the NFL.
