A couple of long runs in a 9 year career don't make you a home run threat. Eddie George had a career average of 3.6 YPC. He was the definition of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. He made his name as a physical bruiser that wore down a defense.
But go ahead and make out a guy with a 3.6 YPC average for his career into a home run threat cause he busts a couple of long runs in a 9 year NFL career.
And Alvin Kamara wasn't the best. But yet he's the best in the NFL.
Keep believing college stats are a reflection of a players talent or potential.
He's Michael Vick 2.0.
His athleticism alone with give NFL defenses fits.
Lamar Jackson isntin Vick's stratosphere.
Thats a stretch. Lamars one of the most dangerous players in college football.
"If I've ever seen another guy that looks like me, it's been Lamar Jackson," Vick...
Vick tweeted last fall that Jackson is "five times better than what I was at Virginia Tech."
Nope Watson actually has the ability to change his game and throw from the pocket
His first acl tear his freshman year is history at this point and he got hurt in practice so nobody knows how bad it is all this talk like his athleticism goes out the window is really premature
Nobody on the Texans is saying hes done like you make it sound
Its when u have 2 devastating knee injuries close together or on the same knee close together when youre truly ****ed
Maybe not even Vince Young .. Lamar doesn't have the level of arm strength that those two had, especially Vick. Athletic, yes .. but an NFL QB .. probably not and with D4Hs track record for player evals, he just got cursed.
Lamar will absolutely be a QB at the next level
Yea I agree, he threw that Hail Mary 60 yards in his bowl game, rolling out to his right, off balance. I saw that and was like :thud:. He has arm talent, and he's the best athlete in the draft, somebody will try to make him a QB. I also think he will do really well at individual workouts and the combine.
Lamar's success/failure won't be predicated on his physical talent, which is ample. If he can't cut it the deciding factor will be between his ears.
I'm not saying he'll be all pro some day. I'm saying he will be drafted, maybe higher than people think, because he has remarkable physical talent. The NFL does it all the time with QB's especially. You are exactly right though, you can't be a successful QB in the NFL if you don't have it between the earsk: . JaMarcus Russell may have had the best arm in NFL history, and many scouts said his individual workout was the best they ever saw. On tape he was at times inaccurate and seemed to struggle reading defenses. The Raiders take him first overall he ends up being one of the biggest bust in NFL history. Most of these QB's that are drafted high or low don't pan out. It's why Vince Lombardi said the only thing he hated about football was that success or failure depended too much on one player, quarterback.
