Sarah Palin=Ronald Reagan

No allvol it's not too hot outside today. I would wear a short sleeved shirt but maybe pants instead of shorts. I am trying out the Palin tactic of answering something with the subject of my choosing.

She is much more intelligent than you so it is probably not a good idea for you to try and imitate anything she does.

I was watching on CNN and they had a tracker of a focus group of undecided Ohio voters. Both Biden and Palin did best when they explained how their positions would help the middle class, but Biden seemed to strike a chord several times when pointing out that Obama's tax proposal was to give a tax break to the mdidle class and to increase taxes on those making over $250k a year while McCain wanted to give oil companies a $4 billion tax break.

He and his handlers correctly speculated that this would be meaningful to undecideds and it seemed on that CNN focus group to be a pretty major point.

This may turn out to be what the election is about. Many of you call it class warfare, but that seems like a perjorative term that would be used by those who want to protect the upper class. There is much to be said for the notion that the middle class in this country is being squeezed by the very poorest getting increasing services and welfare and the very wealthiest becoming even wealthier. All that has to come from somewhere, and it seems like the middle class is working longer hours for effectively less income.

As long as McCain is seen as buying into some idea of trickle down economics -- which is what Palin was talking about last night -- then I think he's in trouble.

I don't remember running for VP either. I guess I can't comment on Jon Crompton either since he is more athletic? :ermm:

If any voter out there buys into the campaign talking point "We will lower the middle classes tax burden" while we have this economy deserves what they will get.

Why we as a country continue to buy into the idea these politicians are looking out for us I do not understand. This current situation we find ourselves in is a perfect example. We are sold out so politicians can pander and sell us out to special interest so they can keep office and we allow them to do it.

I for one would like it if we had someone in office that wasn't a political insider. It seems to me we would stand much better odds of having someone who was actually "on our side".

I am middle class. I make around 50 my wife is still in school and doesn't really work.

We live within our means and I do not feel squeezed.

I'm sorry but I feel no sympathy for people who don't budget their own finances, live outside their means, want the gov't to fix their problems and are looking for hand outs.

Anyone who believes Obama is going to provide all these new programs while giving 95% tax breaks is dreaming.

You can comment all you want, trying to actually perform as either one of these people will likely be a faled venture for you.

I can say the same for you and your comments about Biden and Obama. Why are you such a hypocrite?

I'm intrigued. What makes her so intelligent other than her ability to recite talking points that often have absolutely nothing to do with the question asked?

We've seen what happens in an interview already, so it must be her academic credentials that make her so intelligent. Let's see, Hawaii Pacific College for a semester, North Idaho for two, Idaho for two, Matanuska-Susitan community college for one, and finally back to Idaho. Fine institutions I'm sure. Does being governor of Alaska and VP candidate automatically make her intelligent, maybe?

You certainly can't be successful in those endeavors and have an inferior mind! To argue the opposite would be admitting your own stupidity wouldn't it?

Please explain, my stupidity is making it hard to think. I have no desire to be governor of Alaska or the VP. I don't understand how the fact that I am neither of those things equals I am stupid.

She gets real close to saying the government is the problem and needs to get out of everyone's way. That is more intelligent than anything I have seen Mr. Harvard or Drunky say.

Worked for Quail.

Not answering questions posed and reciting talking points I've seen done by many politicians on both sides since the beginning of time. Annoying yes, makes her stupid no.

I never said you were "stupid", I simply stated that you cannot be successful as Governor and have an inferior mind. I simply posed the question that to argue differently would be admitting stupidity. I never called you stupid or inferred that you were. Maybe you just have a complex about it?:dunno:

You either have an inferior mind or you are intelligent. Granted there are degrees of intelligence but being able to run a state would certainly require an intelligent person wouldn't it?

You're hardly in a position to call out Obama or Biden. They are smarter than you and you would be a massive failure in comparison. Sound familiar? Hypocrite.

I am not calling Obama out, making fun of the people that harp on this accomplishment of his as if this singular act makes him the most intelligent man in the world.

I can call Biden Drunky if I want and nothing about it makes me a hyporcite.

They may know more facts than me, I don't consider either one to be a better thinker than me.

Write back when you find some actual hypocrisy.

I didn't say she was stupid, I just questioned why one would think she was intelligent. I haven't seen any evidence that she is so far. I don't agree with the notion that you have to be intelligent to reach a high level in politics. A lot of people have made careers out of being charismatic despite not being very intelligent.

I was just kidding with you KB.

Our disagreement is that we were interpreting the word intelligent differently. When I refer to someone as intelligent, I mean that they are very smart or well above average. In my view, it's a pretty high standard, more than just not feeble-minded.

She's attractive, charismatic, and a good public speaker. She doesn't seem to have a deep understand of most issues though, and seems to rely heavily on talking points. She was well-prepared though.

No worries. IMO though she is pretty intelligent. As I see it she would almost have to be to have been successful in Alaska.

You could insert "he" for "she" with "he" referring to Obama and your statement would still be accurate.

Like the idea that you're a better "thinker" than Obama and Biden and I, on the other hand, must be an idiot compared to Palin (assumed by someone that has never met me before). It's hypocrisy because we're doing the same thing (making points about the opposition) yet when I do it you have a problem with it but when you do it you are right (in your mind).

For the record, I don't have a problem with anyone's opinion on here, it's just that, but don't whine about my opinion when your opinions are just as strong.
