Sarkisian comment pertinent to UT football

Is any fan base ever behind a hire anymore unless it is a 5-time BCS Champion and 5-time Super Bowl Champion coach?

The Barners were probably pretty thrilled to get Gus, but other than that I suppose you're right.

You're wasting your energy. SJt has his mind made up that Butch can't get it done and he has said so many negative, and quite frankly uninformed, things that all he can do is double down on the negativity. He can't even bring himself to explore the possibility of a wait and see approach. In 3 years he'll either be shouting his I told you so, or he will be changing his username.

Me and him had the same debate earlier and he told me he was basing his opinion on the performance of the team this season and that the defense had regressed during the season. I agreed with him that we seen a peak in the defense in the USC game and regressed in the next three games but I feel like they rebounded and finished the season nicely. Vandy may have been the defenses best game of the year and there is just no way to compare last years offense to this years so I do not hink it is fair to say this years team was worse than last years team.

And it is as it should be.

As for the comparison to UT's situation... it went from bad to worse on the field. You can blame on talent, you can blame on coaching, you can acknowledge it was some of both... but historic lows were set this year. This team was not better than last year in many ways and was worse than the two previous years in most ways.
So losing Tyler Bray, Cordarrelle Patterson, Justin Hunter, and Mychal Rivera to the NFL...pretty much every ounce of our offensive production from last year....with minimal to no experienced Freshman and Sophomore WRs/TEs and a Junior QB with no game experience with those players....which in turn gets injured and is replaced by a true Freshman QB....topped off with a new offensive system and you don't understand how this team wasn't better?

Franklin bothers me not in the least. I hope he stays forever. He was largely successful because Dooley was coaching at UT IMO.

Franklin was pretty successful couple of weeks ago and I don't remember Dooley being there.

We were better at running the ball because the oline and rb's all returned....go figure.

We did not need a new offensive system. Changing system and coordinators that were doing just fine is all on Butch (it was his decision so he bears full responsibility for results and gets all the criticism that comes with that decision).

I am fine with picking out the negatives but to ignore all the positives in not fair to the staff. Sure they were embarassed in a three game stretch but the deck was really stacked against them after Worley got hurt. I underestimated the team speed of AU until I seen them play Bama and now that loss does not seem as bad to me.

You beat me to it, Dragon. And how does USC hiring Sarkisian have anything to do with UT Football? We have a full coaching staff and it doesn't appear anyone is leaving anytime soon.

Yea- I can't fix stupid. Franklins recruiting class at Vandy was ranked higher than Dooley's, How is Franklin doing against CBJ this year?

I've been listening to you bit$h, moan and groan incessantly for months. Are you that impatient and immature not to realize it took 6 years of mismanagement and depletion of talent that it's going to take nearly that long to recover? Cmon man!

Ws and Ls are what coaches are judged by. Is what it is.

Maybe to the the folks that don't understand football and only watch to eat chicken wings and drink beer. Coaching is more than "Ws and Ls".

Haven't you watched Friday Night Lights?

Butch, please...

Vandy's playmaker at WR Jordan Mathews stepped up and made plays to win the game....we didn't....our players blew several opportunities to close the deal....at some point other WRs are going to have to step up when called on other than Pig,Croom, and North :dunno:

I can see Jones having Sark type numbers at UT. Not a rag on Jones. I just see him as a 7-8 win coach. Maybe a 9 win here and there.

You may be right but some on here are not willing to let him or the staff prove what they are. The only thing we have to go on is his past and it says he is a winner.

Good analysis. I see him fluctuating in 5-9 win range over longer period of time. However, given his recruiting ability he could be much better than that, provided he upgrades his assistants.
