Sarkisian taking USC job

Couple different people tweeting that main reason USC passed on Franklin was the rape investigation

Also, people saying that it's hard to win at Washington, is it easier to win 9 games at Vandy than 8 at UW?

Mike Leach was about to overtake him in the State, so it probably was a good time to get out of Washington.

Sark is a good coach. He will do well. I am surprised that they did not go after a bigger name or someone not affiliated with Pete Carroll and his cheating ways.

UW got bent over and got the royal re__ming. Opened new stadium this year, had Sark getting his system grounded and now....back to the drawing board. Beware the dominos.

I think USC wanted Jack Del Rio but got turned down. JMO

My dark horse for Washington would be Petrino. I want to say Petrino is originally from out west somewhere, but I'm not certain. UF is apparently not opening up this year, so Washington and the PAC12 might prove to be a fun new playground for him.

I know some want to throw out Mora's name since he's an alum, but it would be hard to imagine him jumping ship from UCLA at the moment. He's already put in a lot of time and effort in his two years there and I think they're showing good steps forward.

Are you a college AD? Neither am I, so I guess we'll just have to call this a draw.

He took a 2-10 team to a bowl game his first season, after that 9 wins and very likely another 9 wins. I bet you Butch Jones does not win 9 next season or the next.

That 2-10 team went to a bowl two years before, if I recall correctly.

UT would have most likely won 8-9 games this year with Vandy's schedule and a healthy starting QB. What would Vandy have done, playing Oregon, Bama, a healthy UGA, a healthy UF, Auburn, and a UT team that wasn't starting their 4th string freshman QB?

In that scenario, I count 6 losses just to those. We could then include the loss to Mizzu, the loss to USCe... (We'll discount the Ole Miss loss and A&M loss, since they would have been traded to those other SECW teams.) That's 8 losses, 4 wins, and no one is on the Franklin train.

Bring Wake Forest to the argument, and they would have been one play away from a 9 loss season.

That 2-win team in 09-10... They played LSU, Miss St, Miss, UGA, SCe, UF, UT, Ga Tech.

When has Franklin ever played that kind of schedule?

For further comparison, his first winning season, he beat Elon, Uconn, Ole Miss, Army, Kentucky and Wake Forest. He then lost to Cinci.

His third winning season, I dissected it a bit above. It was this year. He won against nobodies and crippled SECe teams.

You folks that don't want to account for SOS are ridiculous.

I think it's odd that USC jumped the gun so to speak. That's a school with a surplus of money and a long standing tradition. Personally Sark would have been down the list quite a bit. But others may have passed because sanctions tend to follow the program.

Other than Jack Del Rio, who would have been on the list? The coaching pool right now may be the weakest it's been in a long time. USC wasn't going to lure Saban, Meyer, Miles, etc. After those guys, there's a huge drop off.

So you want to just look at just this season? All 3 seasons he has been there they have made a bowl game, at VANDERBILT. All these close games they are now winning they lose those before Franklin.

They beat UT once in like 30 years, now 2 straight.

Last year, UT had Miss St from west and NC St out of conf and still could not get to a bowl game, why? Because Vandy and Franklin beat us.

I hate him as much as anyone else, but we all hate him because we wins and so far owns us.

Considering how bad we've been, it's not hard to "own" us right now, so it's not like that is some great accomplishment.

Is that "we wins" a freudian slip? Admitting to being a Vandy fan? H and W not close on the keyboard.

Franklin is not a bad coach, but I don't see him as a great coach either. When ADs are lining up at his door to steal him away from Vandy, perhaps I'll see things differently. Thus far, that doesn't appear to be happenning.

What are you talking about, "You only want to talk about this season"? Did you miss this?

For further comparison, his first winning season, he beat Elon, Uconn, Ole Miss, Army, Kentucky and Wake Forest. He then lost to Cinci.

But I'll play the game and add his second season to make it complete:

He beat:
Presbyterian,
A BAD Mizzu
A BAD Auburn
Mass
UK
Miss
UT (As you mentioned, BAD)
Wake Forest
NC St

Still not seeing the signature wins. My whole point is that he's unproven, not that he's a bad coach. I don't think high profile programs will be standing in line waiting to hire a guy whose greatest accomplishment is being graded on a curve while beating teams everyone else is beating up on too.

Franklin has been VERY, VERY fortunate at the conference schedules he's had, and they schedule nobody out of conf.

If memory serves, I think he's beaten two teams with winning records while at VU?
