Overreact much?

Winning a NC is hard. How many active coaches have done that? 4? And one is Jimbo.

I’m frustrated as hell with this second half collapse but we are still more competitive than we have been since Fulmer’s heyday.
How about just winning the SEC East? He hasn't won anything yet. When the SEC goes to a single division, middle of the pack may be staring us in the face if the coaching and game management doesn't get better.

I agree. Kind of. Heupel runs an electric offensive system. But we play a quarterback that can’t put the team on his back and consistently make throws down the field. Bama game plan all along was too stuff our Ron and force Milton to beat them. They knew he wouldn’t be able to do it. He hit a few throws in the first half but missed a few as well including one for a touchdown. In the second half we stuck with the run way too frequently but that’s because they just don’t trust Milton to throw the ball. When we finally had to throw the ball late, Milton did what he always does… Couldn’t manage all the information on an important play and gave up a fumble for a touchdown.
I say it’s kind of all on Heupel because he’s the one that chose Milton even though most of the fanbase knew exactly how this season would turn out. If the guy doesn’t have it between the ears, he’s not going to all the sudden become really good with a little more work. He’s always been an average/below average quarterback with poor field awareness.

Milton held the ball a little long but the left guard whiffed and allowed Joe to get blind sided.

Joe played pretty well today. Bama did a good job slowing our RBs down. Play calling was suspect in second half.

Milton literally played his best game of the season, and it was good enough for a 20-7 margin in the first. Bama’s staff adjusted and ours didn’t. That’s not on qb play.

He played his best quarter.

He's yet to put together 4 quarters of competent play in the same game.

He most likely never will at UT, and Heupel's offense is wholly dependent on top-notch QB play.

I’ll never understand why hot dog buns come in packs of 8 and hot dogs come in packs of 6.

I may have misunderstood the assignment.

Agree.
Don't want to be the usual vol fan but it's heading down the butch path
-Married to qb who isn't getting it done
-questionable play calling
-shooting self in foot
Etc......

Hope I'm wrong
There were more than a few times in this game that I thought, someone on our coaching staff is tanking this team on purpose.

Heupel is exactly what this fan base thought he would be. A bargain bin, last resort coach who is in over his head.

The atrocious effort against Florida this year, the implosion against a trash South Carolina team when we were a shoe-in for the playoff, and now this complete and utter second half collapse against our greatest rival tell me all I need to know.

Last year’s Alabama game and bowl win were Heupel’s high water mark. We will never win a conference or national championship with him at the helm. Mark it down.
You are truly insufferable. I don’t think it would hurt anyone’s feelings if you just kept your opinions in buckeye land..

So you were expecting to win the East in the first two years? After 30 players transferred out? GTFO

The lack of defensive pressure in 2nd half was not a good decision. Pressure Milton and force him into errors or outside the pocket. He had all the time to make reads.

Banks. SMH.
Goes from what works to the opposite.

Bargain bin? Last resort? 😂 I don't think he wins SEC champ game while Saban and Kirby rule the roost but come on man...

My biggest gripes are that we abandoned the run game in our two trips to the Red zone where we settled for two field goals. We were 1st and goal at the 5. Our backs would have scored from 5 yards out with 3 tries. My other gripe is Joe's 4th down run. WTH? Why not go under center and fall forward? That's little league fundamental stuff.

But it ALL falls on play calling. It completely switched after first half. Players executed what was called. Literally a tale of 2 halves. So frustrating.
Explain yourself. Where exactly should the playcalls been different? What should have been called? You have the benefit of hindsight too. Please tell us.

the 3rd and short, 4th and short need to be called as 1st and 2nd down. they must change their short yardage calls.

the short yardage plays should be the same as our 1st and 2nd down plays. there is something bad about our short yardage play calling

This was the worst play calling I've seen in years. We were the better talented team, but just gave this game away. How did we go from the explosive offense of last year to being one play= run up the middle ? It pains me to see the defense play so hard and give us a chance to win, only to have the offense lay an egg. If you run 3 running plays up the middle, when you inside your own 10 yard line, you are not trying to win. Very boring, very predictable, play calling cost us this game
????

The defense took the 3rd Q off and that’s when Bama took the lead.

We should have passed more and run up the middle less. We're horrible in the red zone all year. We should have 2 or 3 sure fire plays that get you a TD when it's 1st and goal yet all we did was run up the middle all day. Running the clock down just before half time was the dumbest thing I've seen in ages. Yes, we scored, but this could have backfired big time. That whole mindset was centered around not making sure you got into the end zone with a TD, but to keep Bama from getting the ball back...to me that is dumb. We have enough talent on offense that we should be running the same hurry up offense like last year/ and throwing it deep and across the middle all game long. Play calling reeked

And a fanbase full of people like you is why we'll never have a staff that could win it all. NO ONE was lining up to coach here because of the absolute delusion some of us live under. Heupel is miles ahead of what we've had in over a decade and people get butthurt and jump to rash conclusions.

How many points did we score in the third quarter?

Well the first possession we effed up with the fair catch on the kick off. The play calling was definitely conservative to play field position on that one.

Next possession we went for it on 4th and 1 but got stuffed. Again I would question the play call.

Basically the whole team wilted. It wasn’t just on the defense or the offense.
