Milton literally played his best game of the season, and it was good enough for a 20-7 margin in the first. Bama’s staff adjusted and ours didn’t. That’s not on qb play.
Yeah I don't get the second half calling at all. Defense came out second half and gave up 2 big plays to set the tone.
Joe was efficient enough in the 1st half but the play calling in the second just went plain conservative and shut down. The running play calling was bad.
Our coaching staff has to get better making adjustments after the half

Heupel is exactly what this fan base thought he would be. A bargain bin, last resort coach who is in over his head.

The atrocious effort against Florida this year, the implosion against a trash South Carolina team when we were a shoe-in for the playoff, and now this complete and utter second half collapse against our greatest rival tell me all I need to know.

Last year’s Alabama game and bowl win were Heupel’s high water mark. We will never win a conference or national championship with him at the helm. Mark it down.
You’ll get ripped for these comments but it’s hard to argue with them.

But it ALL falls on play calling. It completely switched after first half. Players executed what was called. Literally a tale of 2 halves. So frustrating.
Do you think the play calling changes with field position?

This was the worst play calling I've seen in years. We were the better talented team, but just gave this game away. How did we go from the explosive offense of last year to being one play= run up the middle ? It pains me to see the defense play so hard and give us a chance to win, only to have the offense lay an egg. If you run 3 running plays up the middle, when you inside your own 10 yard line, you are not trying to win. Very boring, very predictable, play calling cost us this game
We had more yards than Alabama in case you didn’t look!

Second half we were up 20-17 and at midfield we went for on 4th down. Bad call , punt them guys deep and make them go the whole field. We didn’t make it and Bama takes the lead on a short field. Lucky they didn’t score on us the first half 4th done failure. Some bad coaching decisions but we’re not as potent on offense this year. But definitely better defensively. I’ve come to the realization that if we don’t run the ball for +200 yds we lose. Can’t wait for Nico era. GoVols!!!

Nah, but his offense does require above average play at the receiver and QB positions in comparison to the competition, and we don't have it, and the coaching staff isn't developing it on the current roster.
At some point you adapt your system to the players you have, and maximize their strengths. Touch passing and quick decision making is def not JMs forte.

Yeah I don't think that show Heupel thinks, and if the play-calling this year is an attempt to adapt the plays to Milton's inconsistent play, then I'm not sure that's a viable option anyway.

Bama ran up the middle all first half Tennessee defense shut them down. 2nd half Bama's first play up the middle was a huge gain. I respect playing conservative with the lead, but why not adjust after Bama scored.

Tennessee could easily go 4/1. With a little luck win the east. Georgia will be difficult but not impossible at home

If you truly think this, you might want to consider another team to follow.

Georgia has had some shaky games this year. They have Fla, mizo, and Kiffen before the come to Knoxville. Season is not over

It’s the same ******** everytime Vols go down there. Remember 2019? That game got serious when Tua went out and suddenly Darrell Taylor is called for a ridiculous roughing penalty giving Mac Jones a gift first down. Then Vols are going fast, and a ref steps in to stop the play for no reason.

The list goes on and on. You better gain 4+ if it’s 3rd & 3. And the get every inch they need.

Our top 2 RBs averaged 2.5 ypc. How is that executing?

Bama beat us in the trenches. Pretty simple

For the record, this wasn’t a meltdown post where we fire coaches btw. I think our coaches do a great job for the most part. I was just stating we rolled them the first half, why didn’t we step on their throat in 2nd? You’ll never convince me we weren’t the better team on the field today.

Definitely went very vanilla run run pass, play not to lose. It’ll get you nearly every time.

I want to see Heupel take some responsibility for this loss. After FL, he put it all on effort, as I recall.

He needs to see this wasn't a good coaching effort on his part. He needs to own it. I hope the press points out the issues and makes him answer.
He did that in the post game presser
