Scariest movies you've ever seen?

Well while this may be the cliche answer.. I saw the original Exorcist when I was 6 years old. Lol. Yeah imagine that age watching it. I was screwed from then on.

Solely from a "I am legitimately creeped out" standpoint, I personally don't think it gets much better than the Paranormal Activities. I know not everyone agrees, but to me, found footage-style is the way to go in terms of horror movies.

I saw PA maybe 2-3 years ago... was expecting a lame mainstream-type movie full of your garden variety ghost story cliques. I also firmly believe ghosts/spirits do not exist, so I was expecting a challenge to suspend my disbelief to enjoy the show.

Man, it caught me off guard and thoroughly creeped me out.

I literally just saw this on Facebook, had to post it here. Very fitting for some of us!

I've done that when I was a kid a few times, lol.

As far as PA, I agree with Chatt. It was actually creepy. Mostly because I watched it knowing I was going to be alone for the next few nights and every little thing at night was creepy for awhile.

The scary "factor" of a movie I guess you could call it, all depends on the situation. There have been times I watched a movie and not cared at all, then the same movie some other time will genuinely have me paranoid. Vulnerable times are the best times to watch.

When I was younger it would be "Silver Bullet". At the end of the movie when the werewolf was peeking in the window I'll never forget.

The Strangers for me since there are people crazy enough to do stuff like that.

I don't think I slept well for a few weeks because of that movie. Also, I always thought it was cool Merle Haggard had a song in there since his band was called The Strangers

Loved Merle song appearance in The Strangers. I liked the movie and still recommend ppl see it bc of the shock factor and realness. I think if it's "possible" it kinda creeps me out. Much like that.

My younger self would get scared at all the nightmare on elm st movies.. being young in the 90s with older siblings made for some pretty good horror films at a young age lol

Wasn't The Strangers loosely based on a real event? Obviously if no one lived, then the story has to be made up based on evidence...
edit...I was wrong, said it was based on a series of break in murders (Manson murders and Cabin 28 murders)

Great movie though

Jaws scared the begeebers out of a lot of folks. My mom worked with a lady that was scared to get in the tub for a week.

Arachnophobia made me watch with my feet off the floor the first 10 times I watched it.

Hostel...my wife will never return to Europe. Haha

When I was little "Village of the Damned" had me cowering under the theater seats. Later, "The Omen" gave me chills for months. I later became a true addict of horror movies. Can't get enough. I especially love old Italian and other Euro horror.

Movies don't really scare me. I love horror movies. My favorite is Sinister. Love the found footage parts of it. Those that haven't need to watch it along with The Babadook on Netflix. It's great on so many levels.

On a side note, when the trailer for The Conjuring 2 played before Batman vs Superman I laughed out loud at the jump scare part. I think I was the only one in the theater that did. Everyone was gasping lol

The only two movies I can think of that have legitimately scared me are Drag Me to Hell and The Visit. Yeah, I know you'll probably laugh at that and I'm not sure why it was those two in particular, but they actually had my heart racing. I don't usually get scared by the ones that are universally thought of as scary. The Exorcist didn't scare me one bit, despite how hard I tried.
