Scott Frost fired at Nebraska

Nebraska's culture and Meyer seem like oil and water. His disastrous stint in Jacksonville has to have tainted his brand some.

Jamey Chadwell should get a look. Of course Matt Campbell will get a look. Mark Stoops should get a call. Kalani Sitake at BYU would be another guy I'd look at. Lance Leopold is another guy.

They were smart to go ahead and pay the man and be in the driver's seat first.

Gary Patterson has the defense humming in Austin. He's tanned, he's rested and...

Devaney developed a golden brick road that connected the state of California to Nebraska. Osbourne kept it intact but it fell apart under him and he got out while the getting was good. Nebraska without the quality players out of California does not produce enough D1 type players to field a good P5 team. Until they figure out how and where to recruit big time players their glory days are over imo.

Would be funny if the interim coach wins out and gets the job

I almost have them beating Oklahoma this week. How many times we see a coach fired and the interim comes in and they become world beaters for awhile. I think Huskers over Sooners is a sneaky upset.

Never seen that “drivers seat” be an advantage in hiring anyone. Florida fired shark humper mid-season and had to get no’s from Chip Kelly and Scott Frost AFTER the season before hiring their third choice who was always available. One could point out USC doing it early and ending up with Lincoln Riley but I’d counter that they could have fired Helton an hour before that motivated hire. It was either them, LSU or the NFL imo.

That's a good point. The one good thing about holding onto Frost is they didn't have to contend with USC, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, LSU, etc last year.

This year should be a much less crowded field of big time schools.

So far. Member this time last year, if you had said Florida, Notre Dame and Oklahoma would have job openings?

I’d heard rumors about alcohol and womanizing. Never heard about any laziness / half ass effort.

He wasn’t detail oriented in regards to coaching. Too many observed flaws in special teams and having correct personnel in games. At UCF, he got away with that as it’s only offense in that league. In P5, you need it all, offense, defense, special teams, scouting, recruiting, strength and conditioning, adapting strategy in games. List goes on and on. He wasn’t prepared for that and didn’t learn fast enough.

Meyer's TRUE dream job is Notre Dame.... run by an outfit that REALLY knows how to cover-up awful sexual behavior.

It might take a couple of years but I'd not be surprised to see Urban in South Bend.

If Meyer wanted the ND job, he ruined it groping a woman in a bar. He’d had a better chance groping a bo…… oh never mind. He ain’t getting the ND job.

I just mentioned this in another post in the football forum, but I discovered earlier we are scheduled to go to Nebraska in 2026.

I am quite sure the Corn huskers will be a power again by that point. The football gods decided long ago that UT will never play anyone when they are "down". Nope, UT games must be played when the opponent is at the peak of their powers
