Scotty Hopson

Yeah, actually, how ironic that we would miss on our first top priority (Hopson) then miss on our second top priority (EW) only to end up landing the first top priority after a decommitment.

I have no idea. Gillespie is such a good recruiter, but I think the kid likes Pearl. His AAU coach will stay his ear about MSU, though he apparently never felt comfortable with that situation. This season may determine alot.

Gosh... I feel that Pearl must Land Hopson..
so is Hopson a definate shooting guard.
or can he play some point too?
and what are his strengths, and weaknesses?

He's just a pure SG. Not sure what his strengths/weaknesses are though. He has good size though so probably can be a good defender.

i really hopes so......would be nice to land a top 10 player....talk about pearl shutting up his "pearl cant land top tier recruits" critics

If that's the case, I like our chances.

He is not a point at all, but actually he is more of a combo 2/3 man. He is long and lanky, extremely athletic, and looks and plays bigger than 6'5" (I think he is taller than that.) He can play with his back to the basket or facing it, gets up and down the court well, and can jump out of the gym. He has pretty good ball handling skills and a nice mid-range jumpshot, but is at his best slashing to the paint in transition.

The only weakness is that at times he has troubling staying motivated to play hard, especially when things get tough, but he is young. He also has a new highschool coach this year, so I'm hoping the combination of another year of maturity and a new mentor will get him past the motivation issues.

Interesting. Great to hear! Hope this time he doesnt shun us again. We all know its hard to not come to us the second time, just ask Tyler Smith.

Were we the only school that got contacted by his "people" ? Or did Georgia Tech and UK get contacted too? Anyone know?

yeah it true...."advisers" help them sort things out.......so has hopson commented on who his top schools are?

No, I wasn't. Alot of top recruits have "agents".

As pointed out below, I think you meant "advisor" instead of "agent." An agent is a person who is authorized to act on another person's behalf...I'm sure this kid has lots of people trying to persuade him in many directions, but his parent or legal guardian will be the only person authorized to act on his behalf with the NCAA letter of intent.

Darius owed him one. This was from the summer:

Over the past year there has been a lot of debate as to who the best player in the state of Kentucky is, Hopson or Darius Miller. On Saturday the two had a chance to go up against each other in a pool game between the D-1 Greyhounds and Midstate Ballerz. In the matchup between the two there was a clear winner, and it was Hopson.

Hopson put his full game on display. He was getting to the rim with ease and he finished using his great athletic ability. He also handled the ball, and ran the show for Midstate. He was hitting shots from all areas of the court. Three pointers and he also hit fade-away jumpers from the mid-range.

For the game, Hopson finished with 32 points, and kept his team in the game despite being outmanned by the deeper and more talented Greyhounds.

As for Miller, he didn't play poorly; he just didn't play up to the level of Hopson. Miller scored 14 points and did the things that he does well. He slashed to the rim; he converted off of missed shots, and also got his teammates involved.

Yep. Darius Miller (UK Commit) dropped 41 on Hopson last night. Hopson was held to 17.

Was this a scrimmage? UHA's first game is this coming Monday night vs. Clarksville. The local paper doesn't have a Sunday addition, so I don't know of any activity over the long weekend.
