SCOTUS fails to stop TX abortion law.

Dolly Parton's Sister says Women Treated Worse in America than Afghanistan

Stella Parton, sister of country star Dolly Parton, said women in the United States are treated worse than women in Afghanistan on Wednesday following the Texas abortion ban going into effect.

The self-proclaimed "Singer/Songwriter, Actress, Author, Speaker & Human Rights Advocate," according to her Twitter bio, doubled down when the Supreme Court did not block the Texas law that bans abortions after six weeks. While there are no exceptions for rape or incest, there is an exception for medical emergencies.

"Don't you find it odd that women in America are being treated worse than women in Afghanistan?" Parton tweeted. "We wasted 2trillion dollars plus to go into Afghanistan to liberate their women and children? Something ain't right here folks. Are you catching on yet?"

Last I checked, no one has forced my wife to wear a burqa or hijab, and I haven't had to accompany her to the store or give her a permission slip to go with another male relative.

Wow, that's out of touch.

Talk about minimizing the real suffering that women in Afghanistan will endure…

Yeah, there's two adults in my household, one of which at this point pretty much gives the other permission to do anything...Spoiler alert: It ain't me lol.

Is your state of mind on this connected to the article you shared concerning declining human populations?
I clearly stated that there seems to be a war on wombs whether it be through abortions or through hysterectomies.

I was clear in exactly what I said.

Oh, and with regards to a medical procedure that requires a woman to abort a baby in order to save her life... I wonder just how much of that is necessary in 2021 and how much of that is just something agenda driven. Makes me think they are attacking the womb. For example...

Hysterectomy Side Effects, Disparities That Women Should Know
I think they’re attacking the womb as a form of population control.

The similarities between far right conservatives and radical islam are very significant. The proposed rights and roles of women, and who ultimately gets to tell them how to live their lives, is an ideology that both relish.

Yeah everyone should be like the liberal left. Kids can pick their gender at any age. White people are oppressors and the trash of humanity. Black people are victims and cannot ever succeed because of systemic racisim. Men can have periods and get pregnant. The world should have been under water by now. And women should be able to commit murder legally.

A woman can live her life however she pleases. It’s just some feel that a woman brutally murdering a child in the womb is wrong. Seeings how your are an atheist, it makes perfect sense why you think slaughtering a child is just fine and dandy.

It actually doesn't. He believes nothing happens after you die. Therefore, life and experience is extremely rare and you only have one shot at it so abortions should be a very harsh act, if you're athiest. Unless he views life as worthless as a whole.

From a religious standpoint, one could take solice in guaranteed salvation.

The male should have a say in all of this.

-Or-

The male should not be financially accountable
I'm so iffy on this because, on one hand, I agree with everything about about it, but on the other hand, the idea of a child potentially going without necessities is very disheartening...I know this is sort of a loaded statement, but it REALLY feels a lot of times like people just want to punish women for being sa.

For being sa? I don’t follow.

Question:

If the government prevents a woman from having an abortion and it's going to be a severely disabled kid, does the government have the responsibility to pay benefits sufficient to take care of the kid after he/she is born?

Yup. You accept the consequences and willingly do it.
If this issue were really about risk and consequences, why don’t we allow women to insure a fetus and collect if she miscarries? That’s how we handle risk mitigation any other time with something of value.

Ok. Not sure how many would pay for that so the market may not exist but sure. Go nuts.

Responsibility? No more than if the disability were to manifest itself after birth (when the law, mercifully, forbids the child's murder).

Would it be just and compassionate for the government to provide financial support for the care of disabled children (whether the disability manifests itself before or after birth)? Absolutely. I'd support that in a heartbeat.

They do. There are a ton of gov programs.

Men who have a strong "pro life" stance on abortion, to the the degree they protest and try to effect policy, are weird, I'm sorry...Regardless of how you come about your opinion on the topic, you come off looking like an absolute creepshow when you try to lecture women on their bodily functions.

In your view, then, men who advocate this particular position held by scores of millions of American women are ipso facto "weird" and "creepshows." Meanwhile, those men who advocate the opposite position (which frees many of them from any obligation they might otherwise have toward the women whom they use for their own pleasure) are what exactly? Champions of women's rights?

For me, christianity would help the case for abortion.

The Christian prohibition against abortion has existed from antiquity. The ancient Christians did not, apparently, find their belief to help the case for abortion.

Discussing rarities as the main point without conceding the generalities is disingenuous.

This is spot on.

Health insurance already covers the greater part of the financial costs that a miscarriage entails. No conceivable insurance policy, though, could compensate the attendant grief.
