What is strangely compelling to me is how some “progressives” are not okay with forcing Western values on other cultures, but ARE okay with forcing leftist values on another state. It’s like there’s some sort of disconnect there. Self-determination is only for other countries and cultures.

It is stupid stuff like this that will cause the Rs to lose votes across the country. I don't think it is enough to counter Biden's blunders, but in the long run crap like this is not good for the Republicans. They are catering to the religious right and nothing can motivated Ds to vote like the "Moral Majority" unless it's Donald Trump.
I honestly don’t think it will move the needle one way or the other in the big picture CWV. Heartbeat laws are not a new thing. This one is unique in the Texas twist on application that’s all. Earlier this year we all got a look at the idiot Dems in the House behaving badly. Now you get a look at the idiot right extremist countering. Just another day in Texas politics. But I do love this unique twist it’s a conversation starter 😂

May also make some bad law for the anti-abortion crowd when the zealots start bringing cases with bad facts.

The far right and Muslim fundamentalists are the same patterns, but cut from different cloths.
Muslim fundamentalist are much better armed. And by the US government at that. How does it feel to know your tax dollars went to arming those radical Muslim fundamentalist?

I despise wasteful spending, especially when it arms our enemies.

So the defendants in the Texas lawsuit are listed below. Could somebody state why anybody on this list has committed any act warranting injunctive relief against them? None of the people listed even generated the legislation nor are any in any position to “prosecute” a case under this law since any such case would be a civil action between private entities?

I know they had to file suit against somebody. But nobody on this list would seem to qualify as committed this wrong?

AUSTIN REEVE JACKSON, in his official capacity as Judge of the 114th District Court, and on behalf of a class of all Texas judges similarly situated;
PENNY CLARKSTON, in her official capacity as Clerk for the District Court of Smith County, and on behalf of a class of all Texas court clerks similarly situated;
MARK LEE DICKSON; STEPHEN BRINT CARLTON, in his official capacity as Executive Director of the Texas Medical Board;
KATHERINE A. THOMAS, in her official capacity as Executive Director of the Texas Board of Nursing;
CECILE ERWIN YOUNG, in her official capacity as Executive Commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission;
ALLISON VORDENBAUMEN BENZ, in her official capacity as Executive Director of the Texas Board of Pharmacy;
KEN PAXTON, in his official capacity as Attorney General of Texas
