Season is half over, what does the remainder of the season look like?

I ddin't say Mizzou had a bad team. I indicated that Mizzou is not exceeding expectations or doing anything extraordinary, they are winning against teams who they have significant talent differentials against. They are NOT a top 25 team. Neither is Vandy. So how they get into the top 25 by beating no team who would be worthy of being in the top 40, and most not in the top 75 is astounding.

Their most impressive win by far has been Vandy.

i don't know sjt,i think it was a eye opener for Mr Worley and he has responded very well since then, hopefully he keeps it up

I'd have to agree with that. My point was that if UT had just had a "game manager" in the first half vs UF... they don't score 17 and UT scores more than 3.

I enjoyed reading the OP, but I don't agree with UT having "15" talent.

I appreciate the compliment...

Beyond that, we agree to disagree. It might be key to point this out. This is the SEC east rosters accounting for attrition up to and including the spring game, but not the freshman players who were not on campus.

Where would you put UT then, if not 15?

Given where we've been lately, a win, period, against a non-Vandy/KY SEC team that is halfway decent (this year, includes AU, USCe, or even Mizou) IS a signature win. Win one of those and beat Vandy and KY like we should every year, go to a bowl, and win that bowl, and we will have had a wonderful season and great building block to next year and beyond.

i get ya now sjt, some more points in the first half would have been good, but i really enjoyed the 2nd half, the way it was,and all the ifs and buts for the D on that last drive by the gators,we were screaming for a stop or a turnover,my sister even went outside, saying she would jinx em if she watched lol

I live in MO and have probably been watching them more closely for longer than most anyone here. "Bad" team depends on what you mean. They will have the least talent on D of anyone UT will face except APSU. They simply do not have SEC caliber athletes on that side of the ball across their starters much less in their depth chart.

On O, they have a system. That system works sometimes. They're OL is well coached but is not made up of great athletes. (Don't overestimate Vandy's D talent. They're a combination of small and slow.)

I have a personal vested interest in Mizzou... but they do not have talent on par even with THIS UT team.

We will definitely begin to learn more about them this weekend when they visit Athens. They play UGA, UF, and USC in consecutive weeks before hosting UT. I won't be surprised if they only win 1 or 2 more games.... vs UK and Ole Miss.

Is this the same system as last year? They got rid of Yost in the offeason, didn't they?

I would like the name of one analyst who thinks UT has better talent than USC. Today, Spurrier made nice w/ Clowney, all will be well there. I hope to see a win as I will be there but it is anything but expected by professional analysts. GBO.

Depends on your definition of what a "professional" analyst is. If it is someone who played college football and now talks about football than you are right...few, if any of those jokers would say that UT is more talented than SCAR.

If by "professional analyst", you mean someone who gets paid to do the research, crunch numbers, find variables that correlate, if not predict the outcome of games, then you are wrong.

and as far as a signature win for CBJ,i will have to go with the one to get to a bowl game this year,no matter who it is against

Best Wishes to the Vols on that chance :)

I think one could say Indiana might be after what the Hoosiers went and did to Penn State.

Then again saying that would also depend on what that team does for the rest of the year.

Mizzou is playing good football. I think this is the second most difficult game left. Having a hard time seeing a UT win.

There are no guarantees in football so they may beat UT. If it happens, UT will have been beaten by a significantly less talented football team. What do you think UT's record would have been if they had faced Murray St, Toledo, Indiana, Ark St, and Vandy?

I hope Mizzou does play well and beat a bunch of teams with more talent (besides UT)... but people are making too much of the way they "look" so far against a tailor made schedule. Similar to how many though Vandy had "arrived" last year by playing a very weak schedule.

USCe is a signature win though I don't think theres much of a talent disparity. They have won more lately and are coached by a legend.... and they have the reputed best player in CFB.

He left. It is pretty much the same system. Pinkell has recruited to his system much like Oregon has to theirs... without the noted success. He's never gotten traction with great out of state talent. They've recruited Texas moderately well. MO HSFB has improved but still lags significantly behind most other SEC states.

Mizzou is a really nice campus in a really nice college town in a beautiful part of the country. Hate to say it but some of the recruiting problems have to be personal with the HC. Take a look at their current commit list for '14. You won't be impressed. But that's one year, right? Well, not really. They've signed 10 four star and one five star players in the last four classes. Posters here proclaim that UT is falling too far behind and "has no talent" when they average 10 or more per class.

Four of those 4/5* players start for MU currently. The rest of their starters are 3* or less. If that was the case with UT... can you imagine the handwringing here?

I wouldn't be surprised if Mizzou won the East! They are very good on offense. I'm predicting they upset Georgia Saturday. Georgia is crippled, USC is falling apart within, Florida has no offense and best Defensive guys are hurt. Vandy is struggling big on D and Kentucky is garbage as always and the Vols have played one good game and unfortunately it was a loss.

Florida has offense. I don't think you've watched them since Driskel's been out, have you?

Thats fine.

On the road, I still see it as UTs second toughest game remaining.

I more than likely know more about them than you... and I would be VERY surprised. Pleased. But dumbfounded.

They are very good on offense.
They are "good". AND... they have played some pretty bad to mediocre defenses.... especially from a talent standpoint.

I think they have a shot basically because UT beat the crap out of UGA physically. That said, UGA who is down on D will be by far and away the best D they've faced all year. Will be interesting.

USC is falling apart within,
Agree. Won't be surprised if they fade followed by Spurrier's retirement. His heart just doesn't seem to be in it.

Florida has no offense and best Defensive guys are hurt.
They still have more than enough to stop Mizzou and will physically run over the Tiger D.

Vandy is struggling big on D and Kentucky is garbage as always and the Vols have played one good game and unfortunately it was a loss.

UT is more talented than Mizzou. They have stayed relatively healthy with most everyone scheduled to return before Mizzou. They should beat Mizzou.

I picked Mizzou to be around 6-6 this year but they may get 7. I will be very surprised if they a) win more and b) make it out of the next 3 games without losing some critical players to injury... and they simply do not have any depth.

I'm going to agree with the OP and say Auburn. I'd probably make Mizzou 3rd considering USC's issues.

PS- Columbia is a little more than an hour from my house. I hope to be there to see UT take on MU.
