Sec fans are dumb per ESPN

I think if he wins again he is going to take this country past a point of no return in terms of diviciveness and executive power. He's reshaping our already questionable beauracracy in a way that benefits him- riding on the claim that he is "keeping government small." He's making the parts that do work, not work, and making it all work for him. Our government is broken. It doesn't work. It needs to be reformed to get the money out of politics but it won't. I think this will lead to a moment that everyone will call for adults to enter the room and we could end up with an actual tyranical government since we couldn't play with our toys like freedom and limited government well.

You could end up with him as a dictator- or, lead us to a point where we have a real dictator. The fact that I talk **** about racism makes everyone assume I'm a "leftist commmie." What does that tell you about the state of things? These social issues- Trump and the way he's treating these issues, along with left and right media cashing in on it all, is driving a knife into Americ's heart and this is the result. I'm actually fiscally quite moderate, but the social issues are what drive me and everyone else insane in this country, and until we get that dude out that cannot and will not change. Long live the Republic.
Please explain how any president in the US system of government becomes a dictator.

I love the south. Abingdon is a great little town in Va. I just felt like trolling a little today.
Not sure if you play golf, or not. If you do, and you ever get invited to The Virginian near Abington, you have to go. Beautiful course.

Explain Sweden

Sweden for 200 Alex! Not densely populated. Somewhat isolated. It's cold and very modern and people live quiet, somewhat antisocial, independent lives. Also much healthier. And much less toxic state of affairs in terms of politics. I wouldn't expect them to get it bad in the same way that I wouldn't expect Maine to get it bad.

That's a troubling false sense of security there buddy. Go read up on the fall of the Roman Republic, or Athens, or the Weimar Republic. It can happen anywhere and one could easily argue a few of the dominos have fallen.

If you like historical dramas I'd highly recommend Babylon Berlin. Shows alright but it's interesting and extremely pertinent.

Zero shutdown. Any thoughts?

Speaking of hysterical drama....

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but my point was that anyone who want's to make assumptions about something they have not experienced is not being very bright, but you be you and go for it.

Eh, I'd argue that currently it is way more likely to occur under the Radical Left (a mix of Fabians and Stalinists; see also: Biden/Harris with a twist of Pelosi) than Trump. If you don't mind my asking, how old are you?

Is Trump more of a Caligula or Nero at this point of his presidency?

I have yet to meet a Stalinist but iif I do I'll let you know. I'd be more worried about Trotskyists and Leninists.
I dont want to get to the point where its fascists vs Leninists but that's where we're heading. I will add that many of the people the right accuse of being radicals are in fact moderates, and this pushes the conversation in the wrong direction. They're no different than the liberals they accuse of playing identity politics. The lack of any intellectual integrity in the right wing is continually taking us further down. Where's the National Review? The Republican Party has lost the things that made it good- intellectual honesty, respect, and going about your business with humility and strength. They dont even respect their own values anymore.

Why would you prepare to be bombarded? Anyway, what's your definition of a Stalinist? Actually, how do you differ Leninists and Stalinists?

Im not an expert but I'd say one's militaristic and brutal. The other is manipulative and more reserved.

Yeah, not so much. One definitely killed more than the other out of opportunity and straight determination. But don't think Lenin didn't want a similar outcome. Lenin hated Stalin in part because he (Lenin, after the fact) didn't have the drive to push forward with what Stalin essentially did. He also saw Stalin as douchebag because he was a political hack. But we're getting off the rails with that.

Yeah, Stalin was more of a hardass and Lenin was basically a politician which is what I was getting at. I think Leninists would argue that he didn't want the same outcome. In any case I don't know any militaristic communists, but there are some of the other kind out there in the US I'll give you that.

Instead of saying this on Feb. 10th:
“Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away. I hope that’s true. But we’re doing great in our country. China, I spoke with President Xi, and they’re working very, very hard. And I think it’s going to all work out fine.”

Trump, at a campaign rally in Manchester, N.H.

He should have said this:
"There are a lot of unknowns. This has the potential of being a very serious problem. Until we know more, it would be wise to take all reasonable precautions such as wearing masks, socially distancing, avoiding larger gatherings, etc.."
And what was Pelosi doing in Feb? What did Fauci say back at this time? Come on Luther. You can do better than this.

Divisiveness didn’t suddenly start under Trump. I’m not saying he isn’t driving it home. He is but he’s just capitalizing on what was already in place. You have some fair points but you also have some misconceptions about the Dems from what I see. No one is changing minds on here so it matters not. You’re voting your way and I’m voting mine no matter what anyone says on here.
