There is a thread that states Comcast has a deal ready to finalize - that reporter didnt do his homework on that - but yeah Direct will not carry the SEC N until the Uverse takeover is final anyone with Direct better dump it now - or plan on missing at least 6-7 Vols games this season
JMO but I think you are absolutely wrong. DirecTV will not continue to lose customers which would certainly happen if they let this go into the season. The purchase price from ATT is already set. There's no reason to wait until the purchase is finalized. Second...where you have seen we are playing 6 or 7 games on the SECN? OU, UGA, Florida, SC, Ole Miss, Alabama and probably Missouri will probably all be on an ESPN channel or CBS. That leaves 5 games. I would guess 3 or 4 games would be on the SECN when all is said and done.

It's all over Facebook. May be some truth to itWell, I don't have to switch providers.
Cox Communications to Carry SEC Network for August 14 Debut « ESPN MediaZone
I was loyal to Directv for a decade before switching to Dish. Hated Dish the entire time, so I went to Suddenlink cable which was worse. Now we're building a new house and are about to move in. Directv is where I want to be back with but they've made the choice very easy for me.
Guess I'll learn to like Dish.
I just switched to Dish today ... you're not making me feel confident. :whistling:
I hope we both like Dish.
To be fair, tv is tv when it comes down to it. You can purchase a package to suit your needs from any of them.
My issue was the control settings, menu, and remote because I'm a stereotypical lazy Texan that wants to press a total of 5 buttons and have everything done.
My only other concern/complaint about them is the ability to bully them like I did Directv. I'd buy a package, then 2 years later see them giving it out for free to new subscribers. That'd make me mad so I'd call and bully them into taking the charges off. Played that game several times and it worked.
Fact is, I didn't stay with Dish long enough to have that in my hip pocket to use against them. That leads me to believe I'll be subject to whatever they want to charge in year 2 of a contract. A man should not have to pay more than $100 per month for tv service IMO.
That's not really an accurate statement at all.
Again, AT&T is bidding to own Direct TV, but they're not going to merge, they will operate as separate companies for at least three years, per the takeover documents. So what AT&T does and what DTV does are completely independent of each other, even after the merger.
Further, Direct TV has to negotiate for ALL of the ESPN channels at the end of this year because their contract is expiring, so they'll have no choice but to add it then, and that will come long before the AT&T merger. ESPN will not sign new contracts with providers that don't include the SECN as part of the overall package with the other ESPN channels.
As far as how many games will be on, I think 5 might be an accurate number, but it's still decided on a week-by-week basis.
I've been with DirecTV for about 12 years, and have been happy with them, but the SEC Network is a deal breaker for me. They are still "in negotiations" with the PAC12 Network, so I really have little hope that they will come to an agreement before the season starts. So, I started doing my research on Dish Network.
Today, I made the switch. I got a sweet deal for the first year, and then when the package goes up, it's still $35 per month cheaper than DTV for the package I currently have (the packages are the comparable ones from each company). On top of that, I will be getting 2 Hoppers and 1 Joey, all HD. With DTV, I have had 1 HD DVR, 1 SD DVR, and 1 SD receiver. Throw in the fact that I get SEC & PAC 12 Networks, and it's a no brainer for me.
DTV did offer me free Sunday Ticket and the Genie (whole home HD DVR) but still no SEC Network, so I switched.
Hope Dish is good, 'cause they got me for the next 2 years!
