SEC Network- How Long You Gonna Wait?

Ok so I'm getting married Saturday. Me and the soon to be Mrs are closing on a house in Jackson, TN on July 18th. Anybody in the area have any recommendations on what cable or satellite provider I need to get so I can ensure I can see my Vols on Saturdays?

A little late but I live in Jackson also and I would recommend Dish. Not sure if JEA cable or Charter is going to have it or not but they seem to be very expensive when compared to the satellite companies. Direct still doesn't and I'm about to switch to Dish.

I'm going to give Directv until the end of the month then I'll be switching to Dish if they still haven't signed with the SEC Network. I'm not holding much hope for that. IMO they'll probably sign well after the CFB season starts. Been with Directv since 2000 and really like it , but I'm a Vol fan first.

Yes, but programming is so similar it wouldn't be worth it. I got lucky in that my two year contract expires in September so my contract buyout will be cheap. Otherwise I'd just have to wait it out.

I've seen this before with Directv and it's getting a little old. They say they're holding out for a better deal for their customers, but in reality they're holding out for a better deal with the stockholders. Just business, and I understand that. But in the end, my bill still goes up in February no matter what and I go without programming for a while. They're taking a calculated risk that they'll lose customers but not that many. I'll be proving them right that they'll lose some customers.

Does Dish Network charge an installation fee?

I talked with them yesterday and they stated they were not charging an installation fee for new customers. Don't know concerning any other situation ( i.e. returning customer) .

I just switched to dish and I didn't pay one. The only charge I had was for 2 receivers. I needed 6 so I had to pay 49 each for the last 2. The first 4 were free.

Since most all bars have Direct because of the NFL - it could be a problem there too

Do you think Direct TV will be the last one of the major providers to get it?

Direct is going to measure how many subscribers they actually start to lose before they agree to pay the price ESPN is asking. They can do that because they have Sunday Ticket.

Direct TV will get it eventually, their overall deal with ESPN to carry all of the networks is supposed to run out at the end of the year, but they have an automatic extension that will roll over through next summer while they negotiate. ESPN won't sign any new deals that won't also include the SEC Network.

Ironically some salesman from Direct knocked on my door today - trying to get me to sign up -- I said no SEC Network ? and slammed the door in his face
