SEC Network- How Long You Gonna Wait?

Admittedly. But some of us are sick and tired of being beaten over the head with ever rising subscription fees. What's interesting is that when I followed through on quitting mine after DirecTV was unresponsive, they are suddenly begging. I've been getting offers to come back right away at very reduced prices. DISH found out I'm unsubscribed and is offering but I refuse to deal with a company that blatantly lied to me in the first place.

I may take a look at DirecTV's offer. But right now, I'm finding more Live broadcasts from vendors that come through ROKU but aren't listed in ROKU's official channels list. We watched one last night and it appeared to be what it sad it was. Mainly news channels at this time. But I had an exchange with a rep and was told to keep watch on their forum and website as they were sure SEC games will be broadcast. Video was crystal clear, smooth. We did watch a piece of a soccer match but lost interest. I'm now waiting a response about what defense they have against being shutdown and whether they have a legal circumvent for broadcasting such games.

Now to re-explore DirecTV who are bombing me with please come back messages. What about my OTA experience? Well, in my area, I'm seeing regular local channels and religious channels. And come inconsistencies. Channels come and go at various hours of the day. On some days, I pull as high as 25 channels. Some days as low as three depending on the hour of the day. BUT with ROKU as a back up source and those "unofficial' channels, I can't say I'm missing much. The real test is when football season starts.

Don't go to Directtv..I tried them twice, the second time when they begged me back after I moved ..Dish network is cheaper and when compared channel for channel is better for the rice..and has the SEC network already on board.

Update. Found some for pay channels, some of which even have no ROKU association. But so far, they all require you to have a TV provider. Which defeats the purpose of going non-cable TV access. Looking for more sources that hold on----Ok, I'm back. There was one site i felt i could put on here as it was outside the USA and had a ton of selections as well as local broadcast selections. When I first looked at it, it was neat and clean, not HD clean but good enough. I looked at live soccer games, news broadcasts, and one movie. Then when I selected NBC's live broadcast, my Internet Security threw up a really bold severe warning about some file that had jumped my computer and asked me for action. I told it to kill the thing. It did but then a window came up askng if i wanted download some .exe file. the OK button was greyed out but the cancel button wasn't. Having experience traps in the past, I closed the browser and shutdown the computer. Never select anything even the "X" that's suppose to close such dialog boxes.

So I won't be posting that site here. Too bad, because this site seemed to have everything except WatchESPN specifically. The premium TV broadcast list I saw looked exactly like the offerings of cable TV. And they had another list of so many USA and overseas channels, I gave up scrolling down to try to see the whole list. But will stay away from them after the sneakiness I saw.

Will not update more until football season when I'll know the sites that assured me they will broadcast SEC games prove it. Bye.

how often does Dish lose its picture ? Some people say everytime there is a storm or on cloudy days - some say they never have trouble --- just wondering about VNs posters that have it --- patience with Comcast is getting thinner every day

I have been with Comcast for over 30years.

I get over 200 channels and HBO with Internet at 57mbps down and 10-16mbps up (that's fast) I own my own cable modem and pay $94 a month tax and all.

I seriously doubt you are paying what you are, but if you are you simply need to call the customer retention dept and work out a better deal.

Comcast has always been good to me with good service and decent people to talk too over the phone.

They get a bad and unfair rap on these boards.

It's what I pay. In order for us to get ESPN we had to go with their certain "package". Price includes 1 DVR and two cable boxes. We get about 180 channels with 170 of those channels being complete crap. Have tried for years to get an a la carte package - matter of fact, I would be willing to pay more for 20 channels of my choosing rather than the bundled crap komkast thrusts at us. Went the retention route before but komkast is apparently aware of my bashing them relentlessly over on the HighDef forum (another great forum). Komkast hates us all but loves our $$$.

I have it now, and I had Directv for years, Dish is much more reliable and dependable than Directv. If the picture does go out during a heavy rainstorm, I just get a SD signal unlike on Direct where I would lose signal completely. I have never had a complete loss of picture on Dish.

508mikey, I've had both and had them over a number of years. DirecTV was more reliable during storms in that when it got knocked out, it came back quicker than DISH. Storms don't care about brand names, thick clouds and ionization of the air will block signals periodically.

Your question has been asked before. I have often scoffed at those who claim to NEVER have a problem.
I have more confidence in Mother Nature's power to make a mockery of mankind's best work. But now I remember something. When we lived in a cottage and then temporarily rented a house upon first moving to Kentucky, DISH never went out in even the worst storms. And we had some real gully washers and tree snappers. Now, whether it is due to placement of the DISH, some freak regional thing, or something else, I don't know. At the house we stayed for a period, there were tall trees in the back so you'd think the signal would have a problem if you so much as coughed but it didn't. However, when we purchased our home in the same town with nothing between the disk and the sky, heavy storms knocked out both DISH and DirecTV. But DISH gave up more readily than DirecTV and stayed off longer. DISH just seemed to roll over and die while DirecTV fought for reception. Least that's how it seemed to me. Right now, I've ditched both in favor of OTA reception + ROKU.

They both will lose signal in rain. The hd channels will go out first before the sd channels. If Comcast would lower their prices to about the same as either of the satellite companies I would go with them but they won't

you are certainly right about the packages having a lot of crap channels. But for that $94 a month I get all the espn channels, all the history channels, the military, syfy, science, national geo and the HBO channels so I feel like its a good deal for me with the fast internet. but I only have 1 box and no modem or DVR.

Plus with all the stuff they have on the ON DEMAND service I get for free I think it more than makes up for the crap channels.

I have checked out DISH, EPB and all the others and none of them can come close to matching what I get from Comcast with the assistance of the customer retention dept.

If only they would get the SEC N ---- NOW

Had a technical problem with Comcast's service and they finally sent a technician....He was a Georgia fan and I asked him why Comcast hadn't picked up the SEC Network. He said that they wouldn't because the SEC demands that it be carried on all of Comcast's systems nationwide. He went on to say that Comcast doesn't see the West, Midwest, etc. as really caring that much about SEC football and it wouldn't be a smart economic thing to do...If he knew what he was talking about, it seems that Comcast will NOT have it this fall....It's always money!!!!

Ugh, I have DirecTV and am getting concerned. Dish Network iis my only other option and that is out. Guess I'll be going to the bar but the problem there is most bars use DirecTV for the NFL package. Man this really sucks.

Whats Buffalo WW have DISH or Direct or both ?

They, like most restaurant chains, have a nationwide deal with Direct TV because of Sunday Ticket. Some locations also have a TV or two with local cable for local sports channels that may not be on DTV.

Gonna be moving to the country next month sometime. I signed up with Dish. I haven't heard much good about them but they are the sponsor of UT football and have the SEC network so there you go.

Starting to think the SEC Network was a bad decision by ESPN -- all the games were on as it was - now pffffft

As long as it don't storm real bad during the game or as long as you don't want to change ANYTHING, because you will have to sign another two year service agreement everytime, or as long as you are ok talking to someone in India that you can't understand when you call customer service, then you will be fine.

I do not expect any moves by any of the carriers until after mid to late July, I hope that I am wrong. We have DirecTV and really like it and would hate to change, but if necessary the change will be made. It is totally inconceivable for DirecTV not to carry the network of the most watched league in the country, especially with AT&T being its new owner.

You would think so I mean they got the big 10 network but then again they don't have the pac 12 network.
