Second round of stimulus; gamesmanship

That may be easy for you to say, but not easy for everyone to do. I know that everyone does not have the luxury of working from home, and I am empathetic to their situation. We are one of the richest nations in the world, Citizens should not be forced to choose between living and possibly contracting a deadly disease by going to work. No other industrialized nations forced their citizens to make such a choice.

Our government is "rich" because it owns the printing presses but every time they put those presses into overdrive the money in your pocket loses value. We can't keep printing our way out of this, we have to get back to work.

Besides every time you hold your hand out to the government for help, you fall deeper into into it's control.

Let people decide what risk they want to take, as much as you libs want we can't stay closed forever
who wants to stay closed forever? If there was competent leadership in the WH, we would be through this....no reason other countries have closed and reopened and we have 50 different things going on. Everyone is rowing in different directions.

Are you ever going to answer the question I asked you days ago? What can any POTUS legally do in a pandemic?

The government is doing this to people. It’s like an arsonist has set your house on fire and then graciously offered to piss on it.
I agree....zero leadership. A known conman/reality TV host make horrible presidents. Choose better next time.

No one told Cuomo to put sick people back in nursing home. You are right, ya'll only want to stay shut down until November. Old people stay home, sick people stay home. Everyone else live as normal

So tomorrow is the self-imposed deadline. Very interesting political situation.

Dems want $600 unemployment benefit to continue. Seems the WH was willing to go along with that for awhile, but then changed their position because the Senate wanted it to be $200, then to 70% wage replacement. Don't know how they would manage to calculate that - I saw some commentary the states would have to do it. That's a nightmare here in Florida as our system broke down early on in the virus just processing regular claims. Also negotiating points about liability, foreclosure moratorium, etc.

Trump has threatened to take executive action if Congress cannot get it done. Some thinking that it is a negotiating ploy as it is doubtful he has the authority to do so. I imagine some are hopeful that scenario occurs so he can claim credit for doing what Congress could not. On the flip side, I doubt GOPers at risk are a fan of looking inept and needing Trump to save the day.

A lot of moving parts to this one.

If Trump unilaterally issues a stimulus it will be the ultimate shark jump. Basically the most indefensible thing a Republican POTUS could do.

i work everyday....I am working right now....however there are other people that have lost their jobs....their are businesses that are suffering/closing because of this pandemic.

So how long do we continue “stimulus”? Open ended? Till the virus is gone? Till there’s a vaccine? Adding another 2 trillion Or more less than six months after the first $2 trillion, rinse and repeat? No way to tax ourselves out of this hole. So what massive expenditure/budget cuts is everyone willing to make assuming we get back to normal.

Answer: None

This is a state decision. The WH is terrible at communicating but this should be a state level action. It's how we are built to operate

So your solution between two possibly bad choices is to remove the choice altogether and stick them with a temprorary band aid that doesnt fix the issue?

That's because many who called it out were pushed out of the gop while their movement was hijacked.

This happened years ago and you're just now realizing it?

Just to be clear, so Fiscal Responsibility no longer matters to the GOP? That's your position?

Exactly, the reason we are where are now is the lack of leadership and incompetence of Trump. He blew it and we are all paying the price for his botched response.
