September 10, 2024 Presidential Debate Thread. (Insert snarky subtitles here.)

By all means, start. I sincerely want to hear your perspective.

For me (and most folks I know), the last 4 years or so have been pretty good (financially at least). Inflation was really bad, but it's now returned to normal historic rates. Housing is an issue, but is that really Biden's fault... and if so, what would you do?

So what's your beef?
Yeah, but the country is getting less white, so that’s scary for some folks. And apparently their pets.

You realize the prices never went down right? There was a massive jump and then that just slowed. We're not getting money back and things are still more expensive than ever

Thai had nothing to do with the unstable fitting the economy is on right now. Then there's the ridiculous push to ww3 as we continue to supply attacks on Russia. This admin is a disaster yet since want to see it continue

Pesky, pesky information that helps clarify the left echo chambers ... Thanks Elon for helping to clarify.

From the article:

LI: Yeah, for sure. So we have some states like California and Florida, where almost no agency in that state submitted any data to the FBI. And there are also a lot of larger cities. You know, the largest police department, New York Police Department, didn't submit anything to the FBI. So a lot of blind spots.

KELLY: A lot of blind spots. I mean, I'm wondering how accurate the numbers can possibly be if - just to take the two biggest cities in the country, New York and LA, they didn't report at all.

Yes, that's how inflation works. Prices never go down. This is normal.

What did occur was that the annualized rate of inflation went from around 9% to 2.5% currently.

Couple things you neglect on the "not getting money back and things more expensive than ever" comment...

(1) Wages boomed during COVID; and
(2) Deflation (prices going down) is actually a very bad thing (in general) as this normally only occurs during deep recessions (e.g. the price of gasoline plummeting during COVID). Really, it's older people on fixed income that bear the brunt of inflation as COLA doesn't keep up.

How would you solve the Ukraine / Russia war then?

We had 3 years of massive increases and now want to brag that it's under control? No, that's not how inflation works. The massive spending is also going to cause even more issues down the road whether you believe it or not. It's trash policy

Even then, this is misleading. African-Americans (as a percentage are dropping). African-Americans made up almost 25% of the USA Population in the 1800s but now it is down to less than 14%.

There is more interracial marriage (to me, this isn't necessarily a bad thing as it is a way to get us away from talking about race if we all mix together) and we have a large immigration population from Latin America and Asia.

Latin Americans are arguably white in many instances. If you take out the designation of "White, Hispanic", the white population hasn't shrunk at all.

The American being less white is a mostly white supremacist lie. You have more segment of the population that are either bi-racial or they are just not reporting their race.

Now minorities are more present in society in that our society has gotten more fair and minorities are holding more positions of power and are able to escape poverty.

Elon Musk has gone off the deep end. Given his target customers for Tesla are largely progressive, liberal "woke" folks, it should be interesting to watch him **** up yet another company (Twitter is in shambles).

On the issue of crime, you seeing lots of new crime over the past 4 years in your neck of the woods? Things seem the same here in the OBX... our major is issue is drugs and fentanyl.

Go back a couple decades and stay out of it by acknowledging our short sighted foreign policy. Or just do it today

Well, we can't go back a couple decades, so what would you propose that the US does today to solve the Ukraine / Russia war?

"Normal" inflation is 2%. We have not had that for a very long time with this administration.
