September 10, 2024 Presidential Debate Thread. (Insert snarky subtitles here.)

Elon Musk has gone off the deep end. Given his target customers for Tesla are largely progressive, liberal "woke" folks, it should be interesting to watch him **** up yet another company (Twitter is in shambles).

On the issue of crime, you seeing lots of new crime over the past 4 years in your neck of the woods? Things seem the same here in the OBX... our major is issue is drugs and fentanyl.
Crime is crime. When it does not get reported it looks like utopia.

I wondered why all the "3 to 1" crowd didn't acknowledge the moderators allowed trump so many more opportunities to speak, but maybe they let him hang himself.
Several opportunities for them to interrupt her and correct her on misinformation, they never did. The last part you’re right on. Once they worked him up they let him talk more. The more Trump talked the more they could attack his points. Kamala not talking was the best thing for her.

So you are probably one of the peeps that believes Russia would invade Poland next correct?
If they can undermine NATO, which they are obviously trying to do, certainly the Suwalki Gap is under threat. At least. I think he’d swallow the Baltics before trying to annex the rest of Poland, though.

No. I think there is other "lower-hanging fruit" than Poland.

But I find it disconcerting that you're good with a democratic country of 40+ million people being wiped out because Putin says so.

Who is the lower hanging fruit? I am all for Ukraine defending themselves and never said I am good with their slaughter. The US has given enough support imo. Let Europe fund that war.

You are NOT familiar with the fall of the British Empire. They ran out of money. We are doing the same. We don't have the Financial resources to keep supporting Ukraine.

Really? Hmmm.... so we can't afford to give Ukraine our 1980s-level equipment like a couple more hundred Bradleys, for instance? I mean we've got literally thousands of them sitting in equipment yards rusting...

Does it cost money to move goods from point A to point B? Do you understand logistics?

Also, we aren't sending them 1980s level equipment, we are sending them modern equipment and we still need to replace the equipment we send them. Keep in mind we left a crap load of equipment behind in Afghanistan.

We just can't keep printing money. Look at our National Debt right now.

Dude. Are you suggesting that if the US stops supporting Ukraine that they will be able to fend off Russia?

Come on, man.

US support (outside of intel) hasn't been as impactful as you think. It has really been more about Russian's incompetence than anything we have done that is aiding Ukraine. Russia (surprise, surprise as this is a repeated theme in history) clearly doesn't have the military logistics to sustain large offensives.

Go on, explain the comparisons.

Gladly.

When one country invades another sovereign country, the question becomes do we intervene or not?

You would choose the Neville Chamberlain approach and just give Ukraine away. But, as history has shown, land-grabbing dictators don't stop...

Venezuela recently invaded Guyana but you didn't hear a pep from us. Sudan is invading South Sudan. There are situations like this going on all over the place.

Not up to us. Stop printing money to give to them.

So you're against humanitarian aid to Ukraine? That's pretty ****ed up.

The military aid we provide them is largely materiel built here in the United States. When we draw-down on materiel, our defense industry then builds more - providing jobs here in the United States.

Venezuela didn’t invade Guyana and I know South Sudan is having (or had?) a Civil War but I wasn’t aware Sudan invaded. I could be wrong about that.
