Serious QB discussion

Be thankful that Milton is beginning to run the ball more and effectively. Another element of the offense that's slowly improving.

So you’re telling me we won this game due to Milton?? Bahahahah. Our defense bailed us out, our run game was great along with special teams. I’m tired of you Milton sunshine pumpers at this point. It’s just plain silly. Milton is awful. Per my eyeballs and his stats as well. And we haven’t played great teams yet. If Milton can’t make better decisions than he did tonight then we have no chance against bama and Ga. Keep dreaming if you’d like.

Lol, I love this.

Most of us with intelligence knows it would be a bad idea to throw a freshman QB to the wolves, on the road in the SEC.

You’re acting as if Heupel is purposely benching him like it’s personal.

I specifically said Milton hasn't won us ballgames. CAN'T YOU READ????

I said: he's not causing us to lose games.

Try to learn to read.
Had our defense not bailed him out tonight he would’ve lost the game against a very mediocre team. Keep making that excuse. I’ll be here next week when the outcome changes. What will your excuse be then? Learn to football.

We are 5-1 with Joe Milton midway through the season. He’s not a great quarterback, but he’s good enough to beat some tough opponents. Is he good enough to beat Bama? I dunno. But we’re pretty dang good at running the ball and playing defense and he’s a good game manager, so maybe he is.

Not at all. You won’t see a post where I’ve said throw Nico in. Unfortunately we are playing our best option I’m sure. The staff feels that way anyway. My point is that it’s time for people to stop pissing on me and telling me it’s raining. Joe sucks. Time for people to stop making excuses.

Confidence is so important for a QB. I wonder if Heup is worried that if he benched him again he would lose what little confidence he has. He just seems so uncertain and slow on decisions.

And just to re-emphasize, the point of this thread is not to demonize Milton. He will always be a VFL for tonight’s win and the Orange Bowl win. But we have zero passing threat at this point. Our most successful passing play is to have Milton rocket it down the field and hope for a pass interference. We have time before UGA to work on that.

I've learned to football. We're 5-1. With Joe Milton.

When we start losing because of a player THEN you think about replacing them. Tell me Milton is the player who caused us to lose to FL. He wasn't. He didn't have a great game but there was lots of lousy play in that game. You can't "football better than me" and say Milton caused the loss.

Until he does, we're winning and we're not replacing him. Learn to football.

He's this generation of Fans "Tee Martin". This team just finds a way to get it done, and that's all that matters.

I agree. What do you think about the 2 qb thing kind of like what Florida did with Leak/Tebow? Put Milton in for options, hand offs and QB sneaks and Nico in for passing.
So basically let the D know what’s coming based on who’s in at QB?
yeah that should work great 👍.

Another poster that’s happy with the mediocre butch style football. If you can’t see that joe playing like this won’t give us the ability to win the games a Tn program needs to win, then enjoy your mediocrity. We haven’t played a good team yet. We lost to a bad Florida. Stay tuned.

I think Milton is good enough to not cause us to lose to band Alabama singlehandedly. Both Heupel and Halzle have said: Nico wouldn't be better than Joe.

Until Nico is definitely better than Joe in the mind of the coaches OR Milton is actually costing us Ws, there's zero chance we replace him nor should we replace him.

I keep holding out hope that Milton will put everything together and have a big game, but he seems to be regressing. It doesn’t help that our WRs are bad. We all knew that would would take a step back after losing Hyatt and Tillman but I don’t think anyone expected them to be as bad as they are.

I really doubt there is anyone left who thinks Milton is the guy to get us any kind of championship. But, other than the very untimely INT he is a stabilizing force and when he does run can do damage with his legs. I guess my question is do we stick with his game management and just give up on the passing game realizing our WRs are not exactly world class either or do we go ahead and give Nico his chance? My honest opinion, while likely to be unpopular, is not to throw Nico into his first start at Tuscaloosa. Start Milton but have Nico ready if our passing game is as impotent as it was tonight. We could try the two QB thing too.
Milton is the guy. Coach has said so. He's our guy this year. It is what it is and I'm fine with it.

You have to start Milton at Alabama. But its time to get Nico serious playing time after. Does the coach have it in him to be a coach first instead of a friend. You get paid to win not be afraid to hurt someones feelings.
The guy loves him some Joe, no matter how bad things get. We almost never saw Hooker because of it.

That being said, you don’t pull him now or heading into Bama. If this same crap continues to happen, then I’d be irate if we weren’t seeing Nico get some meaningful snaps.

We're 5-1. You can argue Milton hasn't put the team on his back and won ballgames but he's not costing us ballgames.

Every week we hear the same thing: When do we see Nico?

And without seeing Nico we've won, other than FL. How do you pull a QB who isn't making you lose? The answer is: you don't.

You won't see Nico in anything but mop up until Joe Milton starts causing us to lose.
Milton would have cost UT the ball game had the D not played out of their minds the 2nd half!!!

Nico is not playing this year. Heupel will not play him.
Heupel said that Nico was not brought in to redshirt. Take it for what it's worth. Nico may have an injury that the staff is not talking about. If Joe can't go, I like #21 to see some action.
