Serious QB discussion

I’ve officially turned from “cut Milton some slack he’s better than the complainers are saying,” to “yea he’s holding us back and he isn’t anywhere near as good as I’d hoped.”

1.) He’s going nowhere for awhile

2.) I think most calling for his benching are blind, ignorant, or belligerent to how nuanced of a decision is.

But I live in Wisconsin and eat beer and drink cheese so what do I know 🍻 🧀

I agree. What do you think about the 2 qb thing kind of like what Florida did with Leak/Tebow? Put Milton in for options, hand offs and QB sneaks and Nico in for passing.
Great so based on which Qb is in the other team will know what play we are running.

I really doubt there is anyone left who thinks Milton is the guy to get us any kind of championship. But, other than the very untimely INT he is a stabilizing force and when he does run can do damage with his legs. I guess my question is do we stick with his game management and just give up on the passing game realizing our WRs are not exactly world class either or do we go ahead and give Nico his chance? My honest opinion, while likely to be unpopular, is not to throw Nico into his first start at Tuscaloosa. Start Milton but have Nico ready if our passing game is as impotent as it was tonight. We could try the two QB thing too.

It is concerning that's 3 int's the last 2 games, 2 by or in the end zone. And all the poorly thrown balls have been an issue all year.

Has it occurred Nico isnt ready. It seems a faction of fanbase simply looks at Milton isn't doing the things we need so swap for Nico. However I caution those that feel this way. People brought pitchforks to see Nick Stephen's, Brian Maurer etc... because starters issues and once they saw them get playing time they saw why coaches stuck with Jonathan Crompton and Jarrett Guarantano. Sometimes the coaches know about the kid and don't want to ruin his psyche permanently throwing out there for sake of just throwing parts at a struggling offense.

End of the day we are 5-1 and we're not benching Milton. It may be frustrating but our run game is potent. I did like seeing Milton actually run and try to shoulder some guys but he's going to have to want it and take those hits to make the 1st down. Also I think he needs to make Squirrel his main target. He seems to have chemistry more with him than Keyton
Second half of the season now, he's going to have to get some highlight tape if he even wants to sniff the NFL.
Last year spoiled us and if we're being honest we peaked earlier into the rebuild than expected with Hooker.
GBO

I agree, you can't bench him, just have to keep coaching him up and hoping that light bulb turns on. He doesn't need to win us any games. He just doesn't need to lose us any with turnovers. He is what he is. A game manager. The running game with the D can win @ Tuscaloosa.
That's my point. He's the QB. He's going to be the QB unless he gets hurt or Nico improves in the coach's eyes.

You won't see me say that interception he threw in the end zone wasn't just terrible. I wish we had a "Manningcast" because I think Peyton might've had a stroke seeing that throw. Horrible. No excuse.

Milton isn't going to "take over" a game like Hooker and dominate. He's going to do his best to execute what he's given.

I agree, Milton is No Hooker. But we are missing Hyatt and Bru and Tillman and Fant and most importantly a top 10 tackle. And Hooker was better. During the game I was ready for Nico. Or the guy from UCF.

He will never play in the NFL!

I think you’re putting a lot of stock in that 5-1 and Joe. I don’t recall watching a game and thinking “ man we’d of lost that one if joe wasn’t our QB”. We’re a rushing team this year. Joe hasn’t carried us.

LOL, you can’t be serious

UConn would be the perfect game to let him start. If he is not ready, you can always put Milton back in.
I don't think you can. That's the problem. Milton is a head case. You bench him he's done and the options behind Nico aren't promising. Until Nico is ready we're stuck with Milton. Sticking with Joe has more to do with not ruining Nico's confidence or getting him hurt IMO.

If he's ready you start him vs UConn regardless of what Joe does. If he isn't, it'll be next year barring injury.

Id say atm was far from tough tbh. They were pretty damn bad.

But I agree.
This right here is why some TN fans suck. We beat TAMU. Was it ugly? Yes. But we won. Now TAMU held Bama to 23 yards rushing and held them to 26 points. No team has even sniffed 200 yards rushing on them yet we got 232. Now TAMU is bad. Wrong. They aren’t a bad team. You are saying that because Milton sucks and we won. Pathetic.

Joe makes a lot of good throws.

Seems to have a blind spot over the middle.

Easy fix.

Danny Weurffel won the Heisman and NC never throwing over the middle.

We're 5-1. You can argue Milton hasn't put the team on his back and won ballgames but he's not costing us ballgames.

Every week we hear the same thing: When do we see Nico?

And without seeing Nico we've won, other than FL. How do you pull a QB who isn't making you lose? The answer is: you don't.

You won't see Nico in anything but mop up until Joe Milton starts causing us to lose.
We see Nico and he throws a few picks, take a sack and get the L.
All you're gonna hear is "we" paid $8million for this. We suck

We are winning in spite of Milton. I keep thinking that we are going to play a team that sells out to stop the run. This would get their safety closer to the line of scrimmage, and Milton will have a big game. It hasn’t happened yet. ATM thought they could stop our run game with just the front 4. They were wrong.

I was damn proud of Joe for taking contact when he had to. I’ll always give him his props when he deserves it and he used his big frame tonight. We’ve been waiting for that all year.

I dont want to go into next season with questions at QB again. This team is ready to make some real noise in the SEC. Just need the right QB to lead them.
