Several NCAA asst basketball coaches arrested

Louisville Cardinals athletic director Tom Jurich has reportedly been relieved of his duties with the college, according to ESPN Louisville's John Ramsey.

FS1 reporting Pitino to be fired before the weekend.

How many more programs will be involved??

Could be dozens, and that's just the Adidas schools. Perhaps Nike and Under Armour are better at covering up their schemes.

The dominoes that could fall because of this are staggering. It wouldn't shock me to see Auburn go ahead and fire Pearl, which could also lead to them letting go of Jay Jacobs. With a new AD, that could even negatively affect Malzahn's job security. Crazy.

I just read that Auburn is allowing fans to get refunds for basketball season tickets if they choose. Have to think this means Pearl is out.

This is what concerns me the most. When I originally read the stories about this, it seemed like it was linked to schools with deals with Adidas. But then as you delve deeper it is really players linked to Adidas, and that can come in many forms, including AAU or club basketball that they sponsor or have involvement with. Meaning that no one, and no school, is immune from the taint of this.

The DA pretty much indicated as much - this is going to be big.

Friendly reminder:

Paying a player/recruit directly is not illegal. Paying a state employee in order to influence a recruit/player is illegal.

Conduct your cheating accordingly.

Good riddance. The place is a god forsaken cesspool. Hopefully they never step foot on another college campus again

Question. Will this bleed over to college football?

I would not be surprised to see the whole thing come crashing down.

I think this will have widespread ramifications, even if just from the NCAA realizing it needs to take enforcement more seriously.

You know there has to be some shaming going on from the FBI towards the NCAA enforcement people.

Bruce Pearl should just resign now and become the college basketball version of Lee Corso. He would excel in that role.

The apparel companies don't have quite the same influence on college football that they do on basketball. I won't say that this situation will have no impact on CFB, but I bet it's not as significant.

Bama knows the ins and outs better than anyone

That's well played. And totally true.

If you're doing it right, then you're doing it like Alabama. There is a well-organized "system," but it is totally informal. You bring players in, and the money men (i.e., boosters) just take care of them with cash. Just a wink and a nod, no paper trail.

A lot of people had Louisville as the best team in the ACC this year. We'll see if that changes.
