I live about 50-60 miles east of Nashville. It's not even here yet and the wind it gusting so fast things are blowing everywhere and you can't even open doors.
It was pretty intense here in Hendersonville for a minute. Windows and doors sounded like they were gonna get blown down any second, sirens blaring outside. I think the worst of it has passed me. Hope everyone stays safe.
I had no idea Nashville had sirens, none to be found here in Knoxville. I think I'm ok with that though. I wonder if the front changes when it hits the valley.
Nothing yet but wind in Cookeville. Looks like another 20-30 mins before the line gets here. Luckily for us when fronts move through with squall lines they typically weaken before reaching the plateau.
Count, have you been keeping up with the potential snow for the Memphis metro area by two separate systems? Wednesday and Sunday. Sunday could be very favorable since an upper level low will be tracking across central MS.
Edit: Nevermind that. NWS is backing off for this Sunday
We had some really heavy run and lots of thunder/lightning for the past 4 hours or so that wasn't really forecasted. I'm definitely not looking forward to the storms on Thursday.
Just road out a triple threat of severe weather alerts. A severe thunderstorm warning which has been extended till 7:15 AM. A dangerous severe thunderstorm warning (severe lighting). And a Tornado warning. I found all this out when I heard something at 6:15 AM
that I have not heard in 35 years...an Air Raid siren. Jumped out of bed open the doors made sure I was hearing this thing. the weatherbug cricket started chirping. checked it out. kept it open to feel any pressure changes and started getting the family prepared to take a swim in a foot of fastly rising spring water.
When the wind or pressure changes came. I presume pressure changes because their was no wind the trees were not moving. then while this fantom wind was blowing we got some small hail. Man I know just enough to assume the worst. I was ready to take a dunk. Thank God there was no heavy rumbling continuously rolling through the hills.
Then it just stopped even the ever constant thunderstorm and lightning and heavy rain.
I can't recall ever having woken up so quickly or even feeling so alive.
