Severe Weather Thread

I couldn't count how many grade school friends of mine grew up in the Oak Grove area where they reported one tornado. Been seeing lots of footage of the damage on facebook and from texts. I hate being away from home when bad things happen to my family/friends. Stay safe everyone.

My sister lives off Oak Grove down by the lake. Thankfully she said everything was okay at her house.

Watching the news there were lots of good pics. This was from the parking lot as it approached from Oak Ridge.

It was crazy. It looked like it does at 9pm here when it was really 7pm. The clouds were so dark.

Second round of storms coming through. 6 storm team was estimating tropical storm strength winds in Sevierville.

KUB reporting approx. 23,000 without power tonight.

Crazy light show out back. Most is in the clouds, but some powerful ground strikes, as well. Quite the impressive spectacle to behold.

The lightning inside that system was amazing! It just about never stopped. The wind kicked in there for a minute and you could hear the house creak.

I don't think I've ever experienced lightning like that before. Those were pretty intense storms.

I was one of those. Power knocked out just past 8:30pm and didn't come back on until 7am. Comcast just got the internet back online 15-20 minutes ago. Egg size hail, high winds, trees and limbs down in the area.

In South Knoxville, there was very heavy rain, quarter size hail, lightning, and a lot of wind. A lot of trees were uprooted on Martin Mill. Still don't have power, and it went out at about 8:30.

Wild. I wasn't home last night but I don't think my part of SoKno got any real hail, as my car wasn't beaten up.

Not that I noticed. Only damage I've seen is limbs and trees knocked down. A couple trees hit the power lines.

You have power yet? They got ours back online about 7 am this morning. A tree took out some power lines across from Dovington on Maryville Pike.

Here's a video from Gray, TN of a small tornado from 07/27:

So glad this jackass was standing outside to film it.

In fairness to the cameraman, I don't think he knew he was about to see a tornado. In his YT video comments I think he said that the door was jammed when he tried to get back in. Most likely from the pressure differential that came in with the mini twister.

Lots of people still without power. I know one girl that lives at an apartment complex and the transformer blew and they still haven't fixed it.

That's what happened on Rhea Rd and Martin Mill. The power was finally restored at 7:00 PM this evening.
