Severe Weather Thread

Hey we're close to you. I live right down the road from Alnwick. So far we're clear here as of 10:50pm.

Have an aunt lives right there. We should be good. I think the worse has past. But I think I'm gonna stay up a lil extra late tonight just in case.

In the lab all day (with a little VN mobile btween runs), so I wasn't even able to follow it. I checked radar around 5:30 or so, called my friend in Tuscaloosa to tell him to get below ground, then headed off to a work function. I wasn't able to follow it in detail until about 8:30 tonight....

...I hope they got some great data today, it has been a historic event and you would love for at least some good to come in the face of all the tragedy.

Historic day. Those tornadoes were on the ground for the whole width of Alabama. That is almost unheard of. The data from those storms will be off the charts. I can't wait to see the BP within those storms.

Before the shiz hits the fan here, the clouds get bluish green and get really puffy looking, almost like the clouds are boiling upside down. Super freaky looking I know. Wish you could have gotten some pics.

Are you talking about mammati, like these?

They are caused by dry air slicing in beneath moist air.

was gonna text you earlier but got busy. you all get anything?

We just got home a few minutes ago. We were at A's parents house since they have a basement. I have yet to assess any damage but the front yard looked fine.

Since I'm not in school, and I don't start my job yet till a couple weeks, I've been relegated as the weather dude tonight :)

This is ****ing crazy. Todd Howell said about five minutes ago we should be good, then that happens.

It's startin to get nasty at my place, how about urs?

I can't tell you how many times I heard the local guys say "I've never seen anything like this". When they added, our radar can't measure the wind speed - it's too high; it got pretty damn real.

After it was over with, I was outside checking for damages, and some elderly lady came up and said her husband was trapped. Grabbed the chainsaw and didn't stop cutting trees till rescue got there. I don't think my heart has ever beat faster then when hearing that guy yell for help. Im still rattled...

Calmed down again now.

By my count we've been under tornado warning for 8 straight hours.

Anybody know anything about heritage middle being on fire?
