Shakers at the games

I love this idea of, "if a man has a pom-pom, the masculinity fairy comes down and deducts man-points".

Your logic is just profound.

Wooing is more un-masculine than having a shaker!

It's true!

personally I hate shakers. They are tribal and primitive. They are an annoyance and a pain to keep up with. But I do like to see the students have them or one section full of them.

OPERATION : "Shake Down Neyland"

Seriously though guys, the Volunteer Wave looks awesome with 102,000 shakers going. The atmosphere at games is terrible. I know some of you only get to one game a year and its at Neyland, but the people who tour the south every football season should know that Neyland is pathetic in energy when you consider it's size. Ive been to Ole Miss games that were more fun. Kickoff chants and shakers and fight songs are what get people involved and make being at the game fun. No one even sings our OFFICIAL fight song when we score. I like Rocky-Top as much as the next vol fan, but we've turned into a one trick pony. And don't even get me started on the student section, it's embarrassing.

They probably don't give out shakers any more because VollyGirl steals them to make pants.

We have to be able to something to get energy and keep energy in a complete game we have fans that leave when we go down a touchdown in the second half.

Y'all can call them shakers if it makes you feel better, but it's a pom-pom.

No. I have read where he says that but I have always said that (long before he wrote anything). Every other year when Alabama comes to Neyland, we make so much fun of the Alabama "men" who bring their pom-poms from home and shake them during games, they eventually get too embarrassed to continue with their cheerleading skills.

"Up here, we let our women shake the pom-poms." To be honest, I have never understood why a man would want to do that.

Well you can make fun of me then. I have an attic full of them and take them to every game, home or away.

I am perfectly fine with saying I like the shakers. IMO it adds to the pageantry that makes college football great. A crowd shot where 100k are all are shaking at the same time looks cool to me. This stuff is supposed to be fun.

Having a shaker doesn't make anyone less of a man! I used to always have one & still try to take one to away games. 102,000 of them would look awesome in Neyland Stadium.

It definitely looks awesome at the game and to all those watching the game on TV. We bring them to every game. They should provide them for at least the big games. This year I'd like to see them at the UGA/USC games for sure.

Never seen a bunch of men get so defensive about someone being against shaking pom-poms at football games. Also, I'm more than a little concerned why a pom-pom shaker would get personal about questioning someone's preferences.

If that's what you are after, I hear there are other websites for that. You might want to try one of those.
