Shakers at the games

i always make fun of aubie fans for their shakers
not to be insensitive but I think thier are tougher things grown men can do rather than shake a pom pom

Drink beer/whiskey and shake a pom pom.

I don't think its weird at a game (in fact I like it) but if you're shaking your pom pom other places well...

I think shaking pom poms if you are a grown man is pretty dumb
to each his own
For the record If said grown man is a lot bigger than me I would tell him thats pretty cool

If you take away man points for shakers (Pom poms) what about standing and waving your arms during the WAVE? Do you lose man points when you beat South Carolina on a last minute FG and you are so excited you accidentally manly hugged the male UT fan sitting next to you?
Where are my Pom poms?

I think it gets fans more into the game. Especially the blue hairs on the west side.

Why are they not free? Feel like most other schools hand them out free?

You get 2 shakers at freshman indoc day for your 4 yr,5 yr or longer college career.

Always thought they looked good in the student section. I still have a few dozen from my student days laying around somewhere, used to write the scores on each shaker from the game they were used at.

I grew up going to Neyland Stadium every home Saturday and the shakers are one of the things that always were a part of my many wonderful memories of being there. EVERYONE used them in the 80s and 90s. Why are they so emasculating to some of you now? Don't be so worried about your appearance because nobody gives a crap. Shakers are a tradition IMO so get over yourselves and your egos. Oh...and Go Big Orange you bunch of metrosexuals!

Forgive me but I sure get tired of hearing derogatory statements about my 'peeps' the blue [ or gray] hairs. We have supported UT for over 30 years and you'll be lucky to attend the # of games in your lifetime that we have. We have spent about as much $$$ at UT over the years as your parents have done to raise you to date. I could tell you stories about game experiences that you would literally not believe because back in the day 'the man' was more lax and let kids get away with more drunken revelry than today does, So we had our day in the UT sunlight, let us bask in the autumn of the year. GBO.

Give em hell! :spank:

The only reason all y'all are hating on the shakers is because other fanbases are using them right now while we aren't. They look awesome when everyone is using them or everyone in the student section at least.
