Shocking news on the Duke lacrosse team incident

I wasn't born yesterday. These "strippers" who come to your house are nothing but call girls, escorts if you prefer. Now, maybe it's different for those who stay in the clubs to dance their way through school or whatever. I have a feeling that this whole "rape" is probably based on either (a) there was a disagreement on price or (B) as has been suggested this is all some sort of shakedown. I have a feeling that they will find some sort of DNA becasue these chicks probably did go over there and bang half the team for mone. So the whole thing will become a big he said she said. Call me baised but I am more willing to believe a large group of smart young college men than I am ready to beleive a couple of strippers/whores.

"Smart young college men?" I think the email calls that characterization into question.

I'm not disagreeing with you completely but I think there are two mitigating points here. First, that was one guy who may or may not be indicative of the entire team. Second, how many of us would be a little edgy if some criminologist came to our house and started digging around in the hard drive. People pop-off on the internet, some more than others.

I would like to add, not all kids that go to rich schools are rich. Schorlarships pay for most of their school, maybe all of it, then on top of that they can offer these kids need based scholarships according to their family income.I know some kids live in dorms without paying dorm fees, they just sleep on a buddies couch. That said,I think if you were in Vegas, prostitution might be applied moreso here, maybe, but if these girls said no, well they said no.What bothers me almost as much as anything are the racial slurs made. This seems to to border on the realm of hate crime.I see problems ahead for Dukie if DNA agrees.

The DNA is in but the prosecutors won't say anything. The defense attorneys get reports tonight or tomorrow morning. I guess that will be determinative.

I'm also going to say something here that I thought about saying ealier when CC insulted my intelligence. We are talking about women who go to houses full of men without a bouncer to get naked and put on a show. Maybe, just maybe, there are women out there who do that and won't give private encores but I have to imagine that they are pretty few and far between. Now I am more than willing to grant you that there are a lot of women who dance in strip clubs who are not prostitutes. However, some definitely are. Also, a lot of women who work the clubs are drug addicts who suffer all sorts of abuse. I don't know the percentages on how many are good citizens vs. how many will meet you in the back parking lot for a couple of hundred after hours but I imagine you are a lot more likely to get some play for pay at your local strip club than at the Wendy's drive thru, the Gap, or at Walgreens. Thanks for your time and attention.

Even though there is no DNA evidence, the "specialists" on ESPN still think its not over, and I understand. There has to be something there. The coach wouldn't leave and the season be cancelled if nothing happened.

Maybe the coach left because there are still some people in this world who have an emotion called shame, which kicks into gear when you get busted having stripper parties for your college athletics team. I'm not saying the coach was in on it or even involved, but he was the pound of flesh that the knee-jerk, politically correct crowd demanded. I bet he got a nice severance, maybe even his full pension, to walk away vs. sticking it out, being somewhat vindicated by the physical evidence, and probably being fired as a patsy anyway. I have no doubt that Al Sharpton will be down there soon making allegations that some of the Duke students figures out how to genetically alter their DNA so they could avoid prosecution. The whole thing is a joke and it just proves my earlier point about where you should place your trust.

As someone who has spent a fair amount of time in "gentlemen's clubs" over the years, I completely agree with CC. However, I do place this caveat: If the alleged victim had concoted this story as means for garnering money, she should face the same penalties as those that would be imposed on the players if found guilty. California has such a law. There was considerable talk of Mark Fuhrman being prosecuted in the wake of the OJ Simpson trial.
Looks like my caveat will have to be invoked.

The story is definitely falling apart. You can't even shake hands with soimeone without leaving DNA. It's starting to sound like a business deal gone wrong.

When you're good you're good. Of course, Sharpton is not there yet but the writing is on the wall. Typical is all I can say.

quote from Durham Herald-Sun quoting NCCU student Donald Parker:

"NCCU senior Donald Parker said the DNA tests took a suspiciously long time and that the results didn't surprise him, "dealing with this racist system. If it was a black man, do you think they would have waited for DNA tests, or that DNA tests would have played a valuable part in the evidence?" Parker asked"

I'd say Jesse Jackson is the better choice given Al's history with rape allegations.

Seriously, we still don't know what happened. Once again conclusions have been reached in public and the media before all the facts are in. It's going to be ugly no matter which way it goes down.

You're right . . . Who knows what happened?? It looks like a he said she said with stupid college kids on one side and strippers on the other. Either way, there's going to be enormous pressure on the DA to pursue this case regardless what the DNA or evidence says.

Particularly in an election year when you are a democrat running for election in a county that is 40+ percent black. Add to that the fact that Mr. Nifing has never won eleciton as the D.A. but was appointed in 2005 by the governor Mike Easley (D). Sadly, this may well be a situation where a political hack DA panders to his party's base by moving forward on a scurrilous prosecution in order to win an election. I hope that is not the case but it wouldn't be the first time. At any rate I doubt there will be a guilty verdict even if they do prosecute. Probably a hung jury divided on racial lines at best.

Candidates for election as Durham Co. district atty. for 2006
District Attorney
Democrat
Keith Bishop, Durham
Freda Black, Durham
Michael B. Nifong, Durham* (current DA)

The citizens of Durham (not the Duke student body,) is demanding that somone hang from this, regardless of the lack of DNA evidence. My best bet is McFadyen pleas out on a Sexual Assault charge instead of being prosecuted for some kind of conspiracy homicide charge.

When you say the citizens of Durham demand someone hang exactly who are you referring to? Which citizens? It also disgusts me to think that someone with proscutorial discretion would put anyone through a rape trial, including the alleged victim, knowing that they cannot win but solely to score political points. Apparently, Mr. Nifong already appeared at the black college today with the mayor and announced that the case is not going away and he'll just pursue it the way they did back before we had DNA evidence. I guess the defense attorneys will just paly along and not use the DNA evidence in themselves. What a joke! This is what happens when you let the lunatics run the asylum.
