One of the best books I've ever read was Until Proven Innocent. It'll piss you off something fierce. Demonstrates how out of control the media can get (NY Times, Nancy Grace, Selena Roberts, etc.). The university politics will disgust you as well. Yeah, the DA was the worst perpetrator, but he actually faced consequences. The faculty and media didn't.

If I remember correctly didn't she have Gloria Allred and some of those big names as her lawyers? Who paid for that?

I don't remember Gloria Allred being linked to her. I do remember Jesse Jackson said his organization would pay for Mangum's "tuition" to finish school and possibly other expenses. Even if true, I am not sure Jesse's money left a lasting and positive effect on her. Mangum was convicted of 2nd degree murder of her boyfriend in 2013. Her release date is supposed to be some time in 2026 so she is apparently out on parole or something like that.

Do you know what troubles me the most? Mangum has never been named by the main stream media for all these years, even after accused Duke lacrosse players were exonerated. On the other hand, those 3 players' names and pictures were blasted all over the media from day 1. The only reason Mangum was name now was that she admitted she lied. That was a shame it took this long.
