Shooting in El Paso

Thanks for being responsible.

And remember, I have never once advocated for taking away your right to own a gun(s). Just rational and reasonable limitations and regulations.

I know I do try to remember that , I’ve seen you say it several times . I try not to rant but it’s just as frustrating for me as a multiple gun owner that is responsible, as it is for you not owning them but seeing what people can do with them .

I get what you're saying, but that's a little bit like blaming oxygen because everybody that commits crimes breathes it. I don't think people go on shooting does because of Zoloft, it's just that mentally ill people tend to be on those drugs just because. It's one of those correlation/causation dilemmas.
There has to be a reason for the mass shootings. They rarely happened when I was young. What has changed besides the breakdown of the family structure, the move away from religion, availability of mind altering drugs, violent movies and video games, and copycats because of excessive media coverage? Guns were more readily available when I was young, but outside of Charles Whitman, I don't remember many mass shootings. Why are there more crazy people bent on destruction? Is it partially because there are just more people, and more copycats?

That's a good post to end on. Heading to bed.

I didn't know that , but S&W 59 series , like 5906 mags work. I have 12, 15, and 20 rounders for it. I think that the 15 and 20 are Mec-Gar. Somebody makes a 30 for it.

I have a 2.5x shotgun scope on the 9, and a red dot on the .45.

I didn't realize the 59 series worked. Good to know as another avenue for mags.

Which in a way circles back around to the root of the gun debate.

Does the current US gun culture give one more or less control?
Gun lovers would probably answer more.
Gun regulators would probably answer less.
And it sort of boils down to breadth of perspective.
I can only answer the question about feeling in control like this. When my buddy and I go fishing he is always carrying because we get to the deserted boat ramp about 4:30am. One time he didnt bring his piece, he and I both were more uncomfortable.

Not sure if it makes sense, just a personal observation.

This definitely has nothing to do with it. Just because people are not religious doesn't mean they don't have a sense of morals or just ignore rules from society. Plenty of us are law-abiding people, no need for the "evil atheist" narrative. I'm sure some of these shooters were Christian, some were atheists, some were whatever.

Aside from gaming/film violence and the religion bit, your other concerns could very well be a part of it.

Using bogus statistics to push an agenda is going to turn a lot of people away from the very start.

First, I want to say this is extremely tragic and it should never be thought of as the norm. Second, the country is so decisive but let's call this what it is. An act of evil by a twisted amd and deviant mind. It appears more and more that folks like this be on suicide missions but for whatever the reason it is becoming all too common for them to want to take out others along the way. Whether this is becoming copy cat or social media is playing a role in these creeps wanting to be famous. Justice should be swift, harsh and painful.

MSNBC said there has been 249 mass shootings in 215 days this year. Ask me why I'm watching agenda driven MSNBC...well it's because it was on at someone else's. They were chomping at the bit to blame it on Trump politics toward Hispanics and/or his lack of work on gun control. Any angle they could get their greasy hands on. Had multiple interviews with the democratic shouldn't be too hopeful presidential candidates including Beto "will never by JFK" O'Rourke where he worked toward a crying scene that MSNBC labeled as emotional. Maybe it was real since El Paso was Beto's district but given his history it seems contrived and that is a sad thing to say. That is why people like Beto should not look like a phony other times.

Pretty hilarious to see Biden try to appear he was coming out from presidential lawns. I wonder if he will remember where he parked his car the next time he comes out of a convenience store.

When you and I were young the people with mental disorders were institutionalized. Those days have long passed us by.

This is on Trump. Totally
Trump didn’t buy the gun. Trump didn’t buy the ammo. Trump didn’t practice shooting. Trump didn’t drive down to the Walmart, load up magazines and he didn’t walk in and start randomly shooting people. Trump didn’t do any of that. The crazy idiot did it.

It’s so ignorant to say something someone does is always someone else’s fault. Like your taking away the responsibility of the actual person who did it. Crusius is responsible, no one else confirmed but him up to this point.

So your belief is that meds lead to mass shootings?
Not what I’m saying. There are many factors that come into play with these events.

I believe meds are a factor.

Mental health is a factor. Family / home life is a factor. Social media is a factor. Media coverage (infamy) is a factor.

I’d like the law enforcement agencies investigating these crimes to be more forthcoming in details about the shooters so that people can better recognize warning signs and prevent future shootings.

I don’t think we have enough information to explain why these seem to have increased so much over the past 25 years.

After seeing this guys pictures I wouldnt be surprised if he was voted most likely to commit a mass shooting when he was a senior in High School. Probably got edged out by some other A/V person though thus enabling him to fly under the loony radar.

Anyone taking bets on what meds he was on? I'm thinking an aderol/xanax cocktail.
