Im sorry. I must have also missed the last time somebody shot 500+ people from 1200 yards away with their new outfit or their second house or their car collection.
This isnt CSS where the last parts supersede the first parts.
I know the first three words. So you're arguing we don't have the right to own guns? Or that we better get to work better regulating a citizen militia?
correct - and gun control laws. Like I said, I think everything should be on the table.
It also doesn't say the right to bear arms is granted to only those citizens involved in a well regulated militia.
It says a well regulated militia is necessary for the security of a free state (and I would agree we're lacking here), not the right to bear arms is granted only to those in a well regulated militia.
"The right of the people to keep and bear Arms" is very clear, in my opinion.
Alternatively, then, you're arguing that only those in a well regulated militia have the right to own guns? It seems under your interpretation, it's all or nothing.
"everything but" got it.
Unfortunately, Congress just does not seem to be able to fully understand how things work or they do not really care. They make deals and then laws that do not work. Kind of like the old Assault Weapons ban that banned AR-15s and AK-47s with specific features like pistol grips, and magazine limitations, etc. None of this will do anything that they are trying to correct. The left will never stop until they ban all guns.
Bombs and Trucks and Planes can also do lots of damage as we have seen. If the intent to kill many people is there, it will be done. There are risks that come with freedom. It sucks but that is the way it is in the this World.
When you want to discuss the root causes of events like these I will listen but not until then. Or you show some evidence that enhanced regulations would prevent such events I will listen. Until you can do either, it's not worth listening to.
Every time a tragedy like this happens the first and only rabbit out of the hat is more control and regulation, so we fight back. Start the discussion by looking at the root causes and I'll be right beside you.

Right, and we have enacted laws and regulations to at least make an effort to curb loss of life from those in the future.
But not guns.
Its going to happen anyway, theres nothing we can do is such a stupid argument. It literally makes zero sense.

My point is the 2nd doesnt grant the unregulated right.
Personally I dont care if well meaning people want to own a small armory. But as every year seems to have a new record for mass shootings there needs to be some realistic solutions addressed.
The phrase "well-regulated" was in common use long before 1789, and remained so for a century thereafter. It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected. Establishing government oversight of the people's arms was not only not the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it.

Bull crap. How many regulations are there now? Theres plenty. How many of these things happen in the sacred gun free zones? Almost all of them. Banning stuff, and more laws will not stop it. You honestly think criminals/people with mental health issues are gonna just hand them over?
