Shortages and price variations where you are

These clowns are gonna have us living in straw mud huts

Actually, if your cob is correctly mixed and an appropriate roofing material is used, that mud hut could last a really long time. The oldest known one is about 10,000 years old. It will also be more fire and earthquake resistant than traditionally built homes and much more energy efficient due to its innate thermal mass properties.

I’m not big on solely using cob as a building material but when combined with earthbags you get the cob benefits and add the benefit of tornado resistance to your home. 😁

Good to know I guess. but I will take the inevitable death coming my way

Added benefit I didn’t mention is that a well constructed earthbag home is also resistant to small arms fire, besides normal windows and doors, but there are simple work arounds for those as well.😉

Smaller earthbag structures are actually getting pretty popular as a relatively inexpensive DIY backyard tornado shelter.

Maybe the lender? Maybe the system that allowed that to continue even after the problems were evident?
I know exactly the point he is making. A narrow focus when placing responsibility.
As I said, a mistake that many make.
The system is in place because the government got involved. The government got involved so that everyone could go to college.

Now it sounds like you are saying it's a bad thing everyone can afford to go to college.

Maybe you start to see why some of us dont want the government involved in every little piece of everything.

There is nothing the government cant make worse. Nothing.

Education system can take some blame as well. They push a college education when in fact many people should be going to trade school, in our military, or simply working in the service industry. However, working some of those jobs are frowned upon which also makes people want to go to school and get their education.

I view it as we are responsible for not only ourselves, but for each other.
Same with kids, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, siblings, second cousins, neighbors, etc....
So you are fine with the criminal justice system punishing those NOT involved in the crime?

Government involved in education? They always have been.
I think it's a great thing that everyone can go to college who wishes.
Government steps in when society fails to adequately avoid the need for the government to step in.
The only thing worse than government is the absence of government.
Name one society that could function without government.

Amish seem to be doing pretty good.

The government got involved with the financial aspect of things, that's what caused the issues with these loans. Instead of each student getting reviewed to see if it's a worthy loan, ie the student wont be saddled with unreasonable debt; the government came in and let the predatory loans take over.

Your definition of when a government is required is literally: does the government think it should be involved here? If yes, then the government can.

Who cares if the government makes things worse? they gave themselves the power to be there.

It's all because its morally wrong for anyone to be inconvenienced anymore. We are spoiled children with a helicopter government.

So, we have a recent family tradition of King crab leg dinner on Christmas Eve. Costco always has a 10# box for a reasonable price. This year? It's double. IIRC, $380 the other day.

They are $65/# at Fresh Market.

When supply chain issues are resolved and employment situation stabilizes, will prices then go down? I don't think so. I think the current inflation won't be given back, as it were. The rate moving forward may subside. But you aren't going to see a lot of these price spikes reverse themselves.
Thankfully after Carter, there was a Reagan. If we are lucky, after Biden, we may get a DeSantis
