I heard today they may not have teams to fill all the bowl games and a 5-7 team might get to go and Tennessee is one of the teams they are looking at. Has anybody else heard this and what is your take on this ?

Just plain NO. They can go get some FCS team if they need to fill a bowl because it doesn't matter who they choose they aren't filling a stadium with a 5-7 team anyway.

If Ga Tech can be in the ACC championship game, then I'll take a UT bowl, if simply for the benefit of the extra practices.

Yes!!! There are great advantages for the players and coaching staff for the extra time. Do we deserve it? No, but I'd take it in a heartbeat! If Gruden is coaching the game I'll go.

YES! For my own selfish reasons, I was really looking forward to going to a bowl game (no clue why).

I just don't feel like I got my full fix of TN football this year. I feel cheated. NC State was about the only fun I had all year directly related to TN football.

Of course. The extra practices alone would be worth it. Plus, depending on the bowl, we would be the type of team that would bring fans. Tons of out of state fans that don't get to see Vol games and this could be the only shot so I'm all for it!

Too many bowls. All about money. Would not mind UT going now w/o dooley and if the practices were used properly by proper coaches teaching proper techniques and proper schemes.

If there aren't enough bowl eligible team, it's my understanding that the NCAA will make eligible teams with the highest APR

Practice will mean nothing.

1. You'll have new coaches and new systems anyway.

2. The players will be working for these coaches and you can see how much practice has helped so far

Maybe they should take the two suckiest teams and pit them against each other.

Oh wait, that's this week. smh

I first heard this conversation in relation to Duke when some commentators were questioning whether they could get the sixth win this season. I did not think about how it might affect UTK at the time and I forgot about it thereafter. If we're going to lose some key players it might be a really good thing to give prospective starters a jump on 2013 by allowing a few extra practices and some live game experience.
