Should a 5-7 team go bowling ?

I don't even think 6-6 teams should go bowling. Bottomline is, it's all about the $$$$$.

The fact that the bowls collectively are facing this possibility is indicative of the fact that there are WAY TOO MANY bowls. In olden days, bowls truly were a reward for excellence, not mediocrity.

Are you kidding? 20 extra practices would be outstanding with a new coach coming in.

In Bear Bryant's opinion, the true competitive advantage of bowls was, as you stated, the extra practice time which they afforded your team for the purposes of player development.

"Should a 5-7 team go bowling ? " Only at the local Strike and Spare.

Seriously though, It's my opinion that since the number of regular-season games has been increased to 12, the bowl-eligible criteria should also be raised to seven. A .500 season is nothing to celebrate. Bowl games should be a reward for a "winning" season; Not a celebration of mediocrity.

Wake Forest would get a bowl berth before we do. The NCAA grants waivers based on APR

This comes up every year it seems.

There are almost easily enough teams to meet the bowl bids. If one conference doesn't fill their allotment, the invites just go to members left in other conferences

I don't think they're collectively facing such a worry; it sounds like they just wanted to go ahead and push through a way to have their asses covered were anything bizarre like it ever to happen

I heard today they may not have teams to fill all the bowl games and a 5-7 team might get to go and Tennessee is one of the teams they are looking at. Has anybody else heard this and what is your take on this ?

No. People are rewarded for being mediocre too much already.

I don't think they should be able to go at 5-7, but thinking about the seniors on the team and all the crap they had to go through with Kiffin and Dools I wouldn't turn it down.

Why would they get a FCS team? Like any of those schools will travel? I mean, we Vol fans travel well usually, so why not? We would make a strong showing anywhere.
