Should a 5-7 team go bowling ?

I heard today they may not have teams to fill all the bowl games and a 5-7 team might get to go and Tennessee is one of the teams they are looking at. Has anybody else heard this and what is your take on this ?

Money, money, money...if its there, I am thinking it will happen one day.

I fundamentally disagree with it. It's laughable.

But I hope we get it. Gives the players more practice and our new coach time to watch/study our team a little longer. It's not like we can honestly be any more ashamed of this season anyway.

Should have no less than 8 wins , IMHO.
F some of these smaller bowls, their one of the problems with todays game.
Reminds me of little league when everyone got a trophy

I don't mind some of the smaller bowls (especially the ones with mid-major tie ins) it gives teams a chance to be on tv when they otherwise wouldn't. It's good for their respective schools. Sometimes, those are the most fun and exciting bowls to watch too.

Didn't they (the NCAA) allow UCLA to go bowling last year with a losing record?

Only because they played in the P12 Championship because USC was on probation. They would have been 6-6 had they not had to play it.

A few years back North Texas made the New Orleans Bowl at 5-7 but again they won the Sun Belt so they got a pass.

Yes! I want UT to make a bowl game. I want Bray practicing in 20 degree weather for the next month, showing that even if he takes a dive in a game (Kentucky last year, Vandy this year) he'll still have to get his butt out there in the winter.

I think a team should win 8 or more to go to a bowl. A bowl game use to be to reward a team for good play. Now it is all about money. There are way too many bowls.

What's the big deal? There's just not much of a difference between a 5-7 team and a 7-5 team anyway. I want my guys playing as many games as possible.

in UT's case, the difference between 5-7 and 7-5 is the difference between having a coach and not having a coach

No a 5-7 team doesn't deserve to go to a Bowl. If we don't get Gruden, does Neyland Stadium become one of America's most Haunted places?

Yes!!! There are great advantages for the players and coaching staff for the extra time. Do we deserve it? No, but I'd take it in a heartbeat! If Gruden is coaching the game I'll go.

Only worthwhile with a new head coach in place.

If we can hire a new coach in time, then it would be a solid opportunity for him to run the rule over the returning players in person. He could identify issues in practice habits and techniques game film couldn't offer.

Proof there are to many bowl games (not that we needed it).. I wish we had the old days back when a bowl game meant something..

6-6 should NOT get you to a bowl game...

The bowl season is rediculous..

No way a team with 7 losses should be in any bowl in my opinion.

where the Hades did this 4 day week end go? oh and I read Wake Forest was being considered because of APR, Them and their 87 fans. If they played DUKE, there would be almost 200 fans in attendance.

Although I dont believe they deserve to go after finishing 5-7 but who cares about my opinion...if given the opportunity to go bowling UT deff. should, why not give the seniors one last opportunity to wear orange and play the game they love.
