Dooley did do the right thing except he should have reported it and nailed u$c, Kiff and Brown.

Tennessee was already going on probation cause of LK and the Dooley error was as bad as the death penalty so what more could they have done? But it sure would have ruined Kiffs lunch and screwed u$c bad!

Agree, but it would have nailed UT too potentially

Unpublished as of yet but SI's digging into paying to play following up on Oklahoma State is going to print that Bryce Brown was paid to come to Tenn. Said when CLK left he went straight to Dooley and Dools told him it wasn't going to continue. Story says if he hadn't said anything to Dooley payments would have continued but Dooley stopped it. Since Dooley didn't report it or nothing came of it are we going to be hit wih lack of institutional control?

I knew it, the whole situation with Brown and FCDD never made sense. Now it does, perfectly.

It's not a Yahoo story so may not be bad. I tried find it through yahoo but couldn't. Found it again little while ago but had to cache it.

Dooley did the right thing. I'm so tired of hearing these athletes b**** about money. The guys are getting a free education and a lot of opportunities that the normal person would kill for. I mean think about this, "oh hey I'm interviewing for a job here and I don't have any experience but I did play 4-5 years of college football for UT." You are going to get hired 9 out of 10 times if this is the case. There's so many opportunities that come from playing college football at a big university that are outside the realm of football, like increasing your chances of landing a job.

After the BS crap "sanctions" given to both Oregon and Miami, we shouldn't get so much as a phonecall or email from the NCAA .....

This.

Hell, especially considering Miami's "punishment" for all the crap they did, the NCAA might even GIVE us a few extra scholarships for this.

Not that this case is true,I just have to believe such instances pay to play take place all around, the majority. That said, is it reporters only listen to ex-Vols when they talk and no other former college football players? Selective listening.

Dear NCAA:

Prove it.

Then chase down every single rumor from every single source about every single player, every single former player and every single recruit from every single program that may or may not have violated any rule that may or may not be legal or enforceable. Or continue to selectively enforce rules and administer sanctions to suit your whims and watch a bunch of lawyers get rich.

Sincerely,
Every School Not Called Alabama or Auburn

It was my understanding that the NCAA already handed down it's harshest possible penalty on UT. Indicated we had to hire CLK for a year followed by CDD for 4 years.

Universally agreed - penalty was too harsh.

Color me shocked if true.

Of course, since our name doesn't begin and end with the letter "A", we will probably get the death penalty! :banghead2:

Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Face it we've always known that BB was paid, especially after he quit the moment we had a change in regime. Hell the SC Bagman was our head coach. We got exactly what we paid for and the bill is not settled yet....,

.... and who's to blame - Mike Hamilton.
