Slavery Apology, Virginia becomes first state to do so.

Not as scary, no..
Then you haven't spent much time thinking about the ramifications of a pacifist handling 9/11 and the terrorist threat. Hold on, you got to witness it on 9/11. Or do you just assume that was a freakish, six sigma type event?

Say what you will, but we have waded full bore into the middle east and are now gathering real time human intelligence, which puts us about 9 jillion light years ahead of where we were prior to this admin. I'm not a Bush policy supporter, but I hate to think of Gore in charge of anything. He's much better holding hands with the Hollywood crowd and saving the whales.

Pacifist handling? Hell, I'd settle for our country actually going after the people that attacked us. I'd rather have pacifist and well thought out handling versus invading a country that had absolutely NOTHING to do with 9/11 while dragging the country down, making us look like assholes to the rest of the world and letting Al Quaeda regroup and recruit more while our military resources are spent in Iraq.

You are aware that Iraqis didn't attack us aren't you? I ask because a lot of people still aren't.

Wow, you just made like 12 assumptions and I only assumed that Gore would do NOTHING.

I'm actually with you on Iraq (though I believe Hussein represented more of a threat than you're giving him credit for) and hate to see our expenditure of resources there but to assume Al Quaueuadeaeie has improved its recruiting and is getting stronger is purely assumption driven by liberal media drivel. Assuming Al Gore would have responded to anything is even worse, considering he is nothing more than a mannequin.

Yeah you're right. The U.S. has completely taken AQ out. They don't pose a threat to us anymore. They're all in Iraq. Don't worry about Pakistan. Bin Laden who?

I didn't say they were in Iraq or that they've been taken out. You implied that they've been strengthened by the ordeal because recruiting is now easier and that is not even remotely true. In fact, they've spent a decent amount of their time, money and recruits in Iraq trying to make it look as bad as possible so that our press might eat it up.

Umm...recruiting is easier guy....

Before, they had to pay to set up training camps and pay for weapons. Iraq is a grab bag. Hands on training and left over Iraqi military materiel all over the place. And instead of paper targets, they've been provided with the real thing...live Americans.

So yeah, I'd say recruiting is much easier. As a matter of fact, they've been running the old "Be all that you can be" commercials in Arabic on Al Jazeera....

How would they not have been strengthened by the U.S. focusing on Iraq? Sure, there are some lowly AQ operatives in Iraq trying to kill Americans, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the majority of them are all over the globe continuing their effort and being successful because we're not paying them that much attention.

fighting with our soldiers in Iraq is where we want them because they're easier to make dead then. If their recruiting is really hopping, good they'll be easier to find, which is the real problem. Our difficulty is in finding them, not in killing them when they do rear their heads. Everything they do to reveal themselves is a step in the right direction for us. AQ's strength lies in their ability to hide in plain view. When they lose that, it's all over.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just sayin'

I'd say their success rate has diminished dramatically and they are finding it much more difficult to hide, except in Pakistan. Our focusing the military on Iraq does not hurt the hunt for AQ because the military would not be conducting that hunt, the CIA would. This argument has been bandied about considerably, but never with any real sustainable arguments about how it's taken our eye off the ball. If not in Iraq, the vast majority of our military would be home today prepping to go to Afghanistan. Today, they are building bases that will house our troops in the Middle East for years to come.

Ummm...I guess those military units in the Philippines, Kenya, etc. don't count?
Do they somehow detract from the vast majority that would be home. Oh by the way, those units help the argument that Iraq hasn't removed our eye from the ball.

I guess evidence of the Taliban rebuilding and Osama, Omar, and Zawahiri still playing hide n' seek means we ARE keeping our eye on the ball?

Great points all. We've apparently forgotten them altogether. Deploying everyone in Iraq to Afghanistan will help us destroy the very DEADLY Taliban and help find the three henchmen. That would put an end to the entire ordeal.
