So… Booing injuries

No one yet, the policy was announced like 3 or 4 days ago.
That’s my point and I saw plenty of “injuries” this weekend that I would fine for, many after massive vol plays for example that they sure looked fine on the sideline.

FYI, the trend is already started and will get worse if someone actually gets fined that it takes a lot longer for players to be evaluated on the field. I sit on visitor sidelines so I see them when they come off.

Next year all, the players will be taking drama classes as part of their required electives.

Like I said previously, this is all ultimately going to lead to a longer mandatory time between snaps.

The UK player that was walking on his own power then flopped to the ground was pretty obvious.

This may not be what you are referring to, but if you are talking about the UK player that was involved in the tackle that ended up out of bounds on our sideline, they showed a replay from ground level and he was hopping on one leg in what appeared to be some pain while the play was still going on. He tried to get back but looked to me like he was in a lot of pain and fell back onto the ground. He could have been faking, but the problem is you just don't know.

You tell me your knee hurts - how do I know if you are telling me the truth or not? IMO the only way to change the behavior is to implement a rule that removes the player from the game for some defined period. Some period of time, for the current series, a number of plays on their side of the ball or both sides - I don't know but you can't just assume everyone is hurt and you can't assume everyone is faking. Since there is no way to know, you have to take the subjectivity out of it and make a rule that applies to everyone.

I think the solution is to say the player is out for 10 plays (offensive or defensive plays, it doesn’t matter on which side of the ball the injured player plays), or the team can take a time out, and he can come back into the game at any time.

Hate to say it but teams brought it on themselves by doing this. Is it classless by the fans? Yep. But let's not act like the teams didn't set this precedent. I dont like the fans doing it, but at the same time I don't feel sorry for the players having to hear it.
Agree. The teams that started this (Lane Kiffin?) are to blame. And don’t act like it’s just us. I heard boos on every game I watched over the weekend. The boos are not going to stop until they figure out a way to stop the flop.

If you’re referring to #11, he was back in two plays later and moving fine.

A) it’s mostly the students, so good luck.
B) I don’t boo the other team at all. They’re college kids. I think it’s annoying that we boo the other team when they run out on the field. It cuts short the excitement of the T. Just ignore them. We wouldn’t even notice them if people didn’t boo.
C) Booing has no effect on the opponent. In fact, some teams get energized by it. It’s just self indulgent.
Not gonna lie. The Bama injury I definitely did boo. Most blatant cheating I’ve seen on the injury timeout.

Can we wait till we at least confirm it’s fake before booing? Every single time a defender went down last night our crowd was booing. LOUDLY. I don’t know, even as a TN fan it rubs me the wrong way. Because if it was real, and that was your child being boo’ed by 100k people while injured, that wouldn’t be cool. I understand it slows tempo, but I believe I lose more and more humanity hearing it on every injury that’s real or fake. Like the tempo of our offense is more important than a college kid’s health and potentially their future. Similar to Walter Nolan last year. He got boo’ed and then got carted off the field (granted he was cheered as he left the field).

Edit: Obviously I know a post on vol nation won’t stop 100k people from booing immediately, just kind of getting a temperature check in the forums to see if people feel the same way.
Here's the problem: At some point a Ky player went to the ground, out come the medics (I use the term loosely) They start checking his arm!! After an unreasonable amount of time, up he gets and runs off the field. Now I assume it was a hurt, but in times past he would have just run off the field. Was this a fake or what??

I agree, especially now that they are fining coaches for obviously fake injuries, I think we should go back to a presumption of good faith as fans.
I agree with you, but I don't think the penalty of 50 grand means much to a coach making millions. I think the player should have to sit out a quarter, maybe even a half. That would also protect his health if truly injured. Safety first!!!!

They are not fining coaches. They are threatening coaches w fines. If they were doing anything more than threats and selective enforcement, then Stoops would have been fined for AT LEAST the somersault fake player injury. Probably more. Josh would get it for extra pt lineman injury #287 of the season. Sankey is just setting a bad precedent by letting this go. He's obviously going to do NOTHING bc there is too much risk in a punishment. The corrupt NCAA has got to make a solid across the board rule change, or this cancer is going to infect the whole game. But, don't hold your breath. Those cowards won't even keep men from playing on women's teams.

IMO. As I’ve stated before. Sit the player out the rest of the series or use a TO. Then the “injured” player can come back on the field. Heupel has only done it once this year. ( injury after xp/fg). He has done it several times in the past. Giving the defense a few more minutes of rest before change of possession. Most of those injuries were guys who only played on those special team plays.

We are not booing the injuries on offense. It is wild that the only time players are getting "dinged" up are after big plays or in the red zone. I watched a player Saturday get literally carried off by 2 staff members and as soon as he hit the white line of the sideline started walking on his own. Cant ensure you boo the fake ones unless you boo them all...lol

It's become an epidemic, especially by teams that play the Vols. It's gotten so bad that unless a defender obviously takes a bad hit, they're going to get booed, and not just in Neyland.

Yea, I agree it’s an epidemic. But it’s an epidemic everywhere. I watch a lot of football. We’re the only fans that instantly boo injuries unless it’s against Ole Miss and they’ve faked like 5 injuries. I understand that our team has probably dealt with this the longest and obviously the infamous Ole Miss debacle. All I’m asking is a little bit of time before the booing begins to figure out if it’s fake or not 😂

Don't care. If injuries, fake or real, are part of the game, then so is booing them.

I thought the "he's a pussy" chants were hilarious. The dude was jogging on the sideline 3 plays later.

It is a BS rule grifted by a corrupt administration with the intent to distract and without accountability.

I watched #11 1/4 step it off the field, taking his sweet time over shoulders of others…2 plays later he was full go in pass coverage 💯🤬🤬
Granddaddy always tolt me you can’t make a silk purse outta a cows ear so 🖕🏻from me on that distraction from the corrupt officials!!
