So for us streaming cable cutters…..

YouTube is only $20 less than what I currently pay for Spectrum. Thought the savings would be bigger than that.

I pay $52 a month extra on Spectrum for HBO, Showtime, Starz and MGM

YouTube is actually more for those same channels

I was going to use Sling orange + the SEC network add-on + Paramount Plus for CBS games. Total cost about $57 / month.

Checking this thread for any better ideas.
This was my plan, too. I wound up going with Hulu Live. I was paying $13 a month for the Disney+ Hulu and ESPN+ bundle anyway, and upgrading to Hulu Live added $57 ($70 for the package). Cost me about the same as Sling, and I don't have to worry about the odd game on ABC or CBS. Plus I get B1G network in case for someone reason I want to watch that.

I am sure the info has already been posted somewhere, but for us folks who got rid of most cable and switched to streaming; how do we make sure to get the maximum number of Vols games?
Last year, I caught almost all of them on YouTube but based on week 0 experimenting Saturday, it’s looks like those are getting shut down for copyright infringement much more quickly this year.
I tried the crazy Disney ESPN+ bundle once but never could get it to work.
What is the path to streaming enlightenment oh fellow Vol fans?

I used ESPN+ app on my TV Saturday to watch Virginia game.. I have Directv but with the dispute between Nexstar and Directv I had to watch the stream.

Sling has ESPN3, which shows live games on ABC - that's how I watched on Saturday. Really, the basic Sling orange covers any game other than than those on the SEC Network, usually the least interesting games, or the CBS game. Paramount Plus is 5.99, and takes care of that.

Really ESPN+ and Paramount Plus would do the same thing for $16 (9.99 + 5.99), but I like having TBS and TNT for some NBA games.

What that also gets you is unlimited streams in your household / family group verses 3. The 3 streams is a deal breaker for me, I need a minimum of 4. Also with that is 2 out of household streams. So I may end up there. Fubo has unlimited streams - but DVR cloud is limited and my family records a lot of shows.
We have four sons, so we have the family account. 3 streams per. And that's at the same time. Very rare that we have more than one or two streaming TV on the same account. Especially with the multiview or whatever they call it.

Old guy here ..... will the ap game be on utube tv then cancel after the game? thx for helping!

YoutubeTV for me… started Saturday morning, will cancel as soon as Tennessee’s season is over. Works great, I record any games I need to if I’m not able to catch then live. Hate the cost of course, but it’s cheaper than traveling to games..😁

unless you plan to steal cable, you're gonna have to pay for something.

I like the layout of YoutubeTV. FUBO is cheaper as is Sling.

I really wish those peckerwoods at Disney would release the ESPN streaming app. ESPN+ is barely worth the money and I probably wouldn't pay for it if I didn't enjoy HULU and D+.
ESPN+ really is useless. Aside from watching minor games (like this weekend’s) I have yet to find it worthwhile, and much like you, only have it as part of the bundle.

To answer OP’s question, I use my uncle’s charter account. But Spectrum and Disney are fighting it out over the almighty $$, so I was forced to get HULU TV until Spectrum gets their act together.

Also remember Freak does post the link from the Sat game on here either later that day or Sunday. You know the results already but it is an option. I have Spectrum and not sure I can find a way to watch SECNW+ with it blocked thru my provider so that may be my option for this weekends game.

It will NOT be on YouTubeTV. You will need a subscription to a service which carries SEC network and then use your credentials for your service to watch on ESPN app

HELP! I am streaming alternative ignorant. Just read thru this entire thread and it seems to be YTTV and Fubo lead the way situation for a simple solution. Not specifically addressed was the required internet connection. I am in an Xfinity service area just across the Blount County line.

Is there an alternative or do I just drop my cable and/or landline services and then select the streaming service(s), or is there now an alternative?

Hate to sound too stupid, but can this be accomplished with my functional but not SMART tv with a box or a stick? Would that be cost effective? I assume I would have to purchase my own modem and wifi or could that remain in a Xfinity solution?

I do live in a good place for AIR tv for local Knoxville content if a factor.

Local TV news, UT sports, really want to keep my Braves access and NFL Redzone, are my key drivers. I can get my oldies TV off the AIR solutions if needed.

Guess I should just get my grandson back from college and use his input if not a simple solution on here. He has been my go to for cell phone stuff for years.

THANKS>>>>

You don't need cable TV or a land line, just internet access and a modem/router to get Wifi. At that point, from what you're saying you want to watch, YTTV should take care of your needs. Not sure about NFL Redzone.

Redzone is included in basic package w/ YTTV and all ESPN channels.

You might need a Roku or Firestick device to stream depending on your setup and access to WiFi router.

Yeah, forgot that. I have a Fire TV Stick and can access pretty much everything through that.

I've had YouTube TV for years now. As long as the games are on SEC Network, ESPN/ESPN2 or national TV you can see them on YouTube TV.

In my experience this is nearly if not every game. There may be 1 game a year that isn't televised and you need ESPN+ app but those games are never going to be games to bother with IMO just wait for the highlights of the 73-0 victory over whatever FBS team we beat.

You can drop Xfinity for everything but internet service. Buy a Roku streaming device. It will have YouTube TV app on it already. Sign up for YouTube Tav (takes 5 mintes) and you're good to go.

Admit I am not streaming smart. Downloaded the YoutubeTV free service and admit it is a difficult site to navigate. I can find individual channels like ESPN. Is there a channel guide or anything like that? Maybe I am limited on use due to it just being the free download.

At the top of the app there should be a "Live" option. There is a guide that looks very much like cable TV.

Thanks. Does this get SECN+ and ESPN+ or do I need an add on?

Download the ESPN app on your TV, Roku, AppleTV, Firestick or whatever you’re watching on and ESPN+ and SECN+ will be available there. It seems complicated if you've never done it, but I promise it's not.
