So proud of my home state

I like expensive gas, high inflation, open borders, and wars also. Oh and love establishment candidates that are force fed. Go uniparty!
I hate the uniparty too. But see not alternative. Best I can hope for is to pick one side and push for the best nominee available. A third party vote (which I have done on occasion) is simply wasted. Never let the perfect become the enemy of the good. If you wait for the idea Candidate, you will never do anything except wait

What candidate was not an establishment candidate in the last 30 years? Also try to view them without media influence. I know it’s hard. But think outside the box.

Oh i will think outside the box alright. But staying out there gets absolutely nothing done. American non parliamentary politics will always gravitate to a two party system and nothing you or I ever do will change that. The only two levers you or I have are 1) support federalism and push as many decisions as possible to the state and local level where you can have the greatest impact and 2) pick one of the two parties and work like heck to boost the most non establishment candidate as possible (and once they invariably get captured INTO the establishment, discard your support ASAP and move on to the next one)

Trump is the only one I can think of since Perot. But good gosh, there has to be someone out there with Trump type policies without the ego and hubris. The man got us some great things and even better SCOTUS justices but I don’t see him able to overcome his negatives in 2024. he is a sure ticket to four more years of Biden

He won the last election. Until the uniparty installed the potato

I understand that opinion but don’t necessarily subscribe to it. There are unfortunately enough dumb Americans to account for Biden’s total. The one thing I think did. tip the scales unfairly however was Twitter and big tech squashing the Hunter laptop story in the weeks prior to the election. If it had been a Trump child’s laptop, it would have led every news organization and social media feed 24 x 7

Not to start this debate. But once your eyes are open to the corruption they can’t be closed. Just look at the idiots that jump in here and squirm and scream to defend all this crap. The uniparty is the majority even though many in the party don’t actually realize it

I think my question about the epithet "groomer" was deleted.

I had to look it up. I still don't understand why Luther would be a groomer, though.

Maybe he spends a lot of time in the bathroom primping before leaving the house?

Yeah everything is the same. Nothing matters. Good point. Never thought of it that way before.

It's a legitimate comparison that you don't want to address because it makes it obvious your objections are not consistent despite the absolute fact that there are things happening in R rated movies way worse than whatever made up grievances you have with drag shows.

No it is not a legitimate comparison. It is precisely the opposite. It is a false equivalency. No 'R' rated movie is ever promoted as wholesome family entertainment. That's the whole point of the ratings system. Drag shows with explicit sexual content are frequently promoted as wholesome family entertainment. Derp.

It's a difference without distinction.. unless you want to make it illegal for parents to take their kids to/show them an R rated movie. I can see it now, a panicking Sam calling 911 on the Smiths next door because you heard they watched Animal House.

Okie Dokie. This is why I didn't bother with the previous poster. Everything is the same and nothing matters. Great argument.

"When I was 6, my daddy used to let me watch 'Dirty Harry', so I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't let my 6 year old watch 'Back Door Sluts 9'"

Spot on. Great argument.

I'm not interested in getting in the middle of this but do you (or anyone) know if live shows (and this could vary hugely by type and location I expect) are in fact "rated" in any manner? An R or X rated movie is very specifically and indeed legally limited. (what people may or may not do with this information is irrelevant to the fact such ratings and limits exist)

I'm just not certain how what is going on in a live show is/isn't legally obligated to describe content for potential audiences or even limited to conditions for admittance. Just to throw out an MPAA example for and R rating.

R – Restricted Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.

The movie rating system has no legal basis, it is a voluntary system that the .gov has no say in. So it is not illegal for a minor to see an R rated movie with or without a parent. X rated material would probably fall under various indecency or child endangerment laws so I don't know about that.

I probably was too loose with "legal". Maybe should have said "standardized". My question was more about is there anything that rates (for the specific purpose of potential audience edification) the type of live shows discussed here? Is that something entirely left to the venue to make available or is there no expectation of oversight at all?

I have no idea. I'd like to think the venue would put a "not recommended for" disclaimer on the advertising but IMO it's completely up to the parents. If you're planning to take your kid to a drag show or any other live show you should probably familiarize yourself with it. Read some reviews or something before going.

That all makes sense regarding responsibility of parents. I just wasn't sure if there were any specific provisions of any kind in place or pretty much a caveat emptor situation.

What about stand up comedy shows which are essentially all "R rated" (using movie terminology) unless specifically advertised as a kids show? Parents take their kids to these shows all the time but there's no wailing and gnashing of teeth about sending the comics or the venue owners to jail.

It's like the idea of wearing a wig and fake tits changes what is considered blue humor to satanic pedophile behavior.
