So what happened to Dools?

Also, under Dooley's watch, our team fell so far academically that we damn near put ourselves out of post season eligibility! I don't know what strings Butch Jones and his staff pulled to avoid it, but we were damn lucky!
He was using Vince's academic model, the one Jan Kemp exposed.

Dooley I always felt tried his hardest here. Always wondered what if he got that DC hire right instead of wrong. I think this job kind of broke him emotionally at the end. Hate to hear the news about his wife. No one deserves that.
Actually kinda the opposite. He wanted out after his second year but wanted all his buyout money also. Hart told him no way so he “coached” another year to get fired.

I've been saying forever that the Go5 conferences should have their own playoff and their own championship game. And I think ratings wise it would do very well! I would certainly watch it! Hell, I watch the FCS playoff games every year!
Playoff would be fine but not an AB to the CFP that Dooley was promoting. Maybe it's time for something between FBS & FCS.

His wife DID NOT DIE! Why are you lying?
I know sometimes you can't believe everything you read but this is what I read. Could be bogus, so much of what's on web is.

Dr Allison Jeffers Dooley, I Wife of Former Tennessee Vols Coach Dooley, Passes Away….
Mislead maybe but lying, no.

Frankly not even sure why I looked for him, the OP had said he had already checked the internet and it's not as if I care where he is or what he's doing. It didn't appear to be any RGW type of bs, so I posted what I read but didn't follow up. If she's alive great, if not then condolences.

You and me both . Heck some of the best games I’ve ever seen were NAIA championship games when they were played in Savannah.

Seriously? That's kinda sad.

The odd thing being maybe being the OC or a position coach at a G5 school is probably at about his level. He seemed to do pretty well at Mizzu as OC there.

I can't really blame him-fully anyway-for what happened here in terms of him being HC. Dude got thrown into water that was just way too deep.
I sometimes wonder if he had stayed at Louisiana Tech or wherever it was Hamilton found him for a few more seasons if he would have turned into a better HC.

Honestly kind of surprised he hasn't pooped up announcing games for somebody. Guy can be somewhat entertaining to listen to for a bit

He surely pooped up here.

I don't know what search engine you used but the link goes to what is obviously a blurb template, with the following line:

Dr. Dooley, who was known for her contributions to education and her support for her husband’s career, passed away at [age] after [brief illness/cause of death]

One of the greatest football games I ever watched was Appy State vs Montana several years ago, back when Armanti Edwards was Appy's QB. It was in the snow and Montana upset Appy, who were the 3-time defending FCS national champs. It was such a fun game to watch!

I have always thought this picture perfectly encapsulates Derek Dooley and his time here and how we were able to move past the damage he caused. While we’re celebrating like it’s 1999 after beating Bama, Derek is eating some sketti and meatballs. IMG_5676.jpeg

There was a time when we could trust and believe articles which were well written and included supporting photographs. That was then. Now, it’s almost impossible to read anything on the internet and not have doubts. This Dooley story is a complete fabrication designed to get clicks so someone in India, Pakistan, or wherever can make a few Pennies off your naïveté. I won’t get into our more serious problems with the way information is shared!

I can tolerate a coach who isn’t good enough, but at least go down fighting. Dooley didn’t care enough about this university to put forth the effort.

Dooley was the lowest point of the decade and a half I really wish we'd all stop discussing, including myself.

I felt like Kiffin might have a chance to be the real thing, but he was clearly not ready for the big stage at that point, Jones recruited well and we had some great talent to watch, but he was in way over his head in the SEC, and Pruitt offered hope because he wasn't Schiano and his pedigree, but was an incompetent clown.

But Dooley was a panic hire right off the bat, and before he ever coached a game I can recall only wondering how many seasons we would have to endure before he was finally gone.
