You are predicting doom when she has not coached a second at Tennessee yet.....most premature in judgement ....time will tell.
There’s a reason her contract is written the way it is. High risk, high reward…They are providing you with real world, proven scenarios from women's basketball. The point of a "Case Study" is to examine what happened, why it was successful or failed, and then discuss alternate solutions. It's not doom and gloom, it's a very real instance of Kim needing to think about her system and what, if anything needs to be modified for it work here. If she just comes into it blindly she is doomed to fail. We live in a world where folks think any criticism is contempt at a personal level and judgment. Successful people realize it's a part of the process, and I have no doubt Kim knows this because of the transition from D2 to Marshall.
And how do you know that he didn’t go for big hire and got turned down?Again, I think for most people it has nothing to do with Kim. It’s not personal, it’s the mourning of a program that was GREAT and that we expected an AD (heralded as one of the best) to make a move that would restore the program to greatness by hiring a proven, winner. A BIG fish. He didn’t, and for all the great things he has done for UT, this hire did not scream “I want to make the Lady Vols relevant again.”
For the last few years, the Lady Vols on average have been the third best team in the SEC. So according to DW they should should finish first or second or next season is a failure. Not like our program is all that right now. To be better prob won’t take much, I mean this past team ended up not ranked again, it again only beat Wisconsin Green Bay when this isn’t the NFL and lost to NC state. Expectations at UT should be win or leave, if I know that, I am sure a female that grew up watching the LV like every other girl in the country did, knows that is where this program belongs. Not hoping to win 20 games and win 1 game in the tourney. I love the expectations of winning
Wow, when did Tennessee become Auburn in women’s basketball???She has the same philosophy it seems that coach Flo of Auburn did in her short stint in the SEC that ended up getting her fired. What worked so well in the Big East did not translate to the SEC. So to think what worked in The Sunbelt or Division 2 is just going to translate to the SEC is a wait-and-see. I just know more experienced coaches have tried it and failed miserably. What is the plan B if you are constantly beaten on your press or fouling people. Look at the Virginia Tech game. Marshall put them to the free throw line 41 times with that dominant press.

Hey man, I'm right there with you in terms of being a bit shocked by the outcome. At this point, I'm at a place where I like the energy she's bringing, and I'm certain she understands she's got a lot to prove. This isn't a place where anything resembling mediocrity will be tolerated.Again, I think for most people it has nothing to do with Kim. Sounds about right. I mean USC did take a while to get to where they are at and SUCKED before Staley got there. Which Staley wasn’t all that good at Temple either before she got to USC. Now she wins NC. So I’m still wait and see on this, but DW has given me no reason to doubt him, I think the only sport we aren’t as good at as we were before he got here is soccer and the girls pitched a fit to keep the assistant and make him head coach. Now we see why that isn’t a very good idea and it’s not one that DW usually does. For the last few years, the Lady Vols on average have been the third best team in the SEC. So according to DW they should should finish first or second or next season is a failure.
Strip will likely be our tallest player next she’s going to have to defend the 5 and when she went against just as big and experienced 5’s, she was put in a blender. Some of you might think I’m off here, but I bet Striplin excels in this new system, she can motor up and down the court and she has a nice stroke from three. I think a lot of Puckett, and hope she fits in as well, though Kim will need to work with her some on the transition speed and defensive assignments in a press. If Karo is not asked to defend the post as a 5 she should be good to go for a nice year in that system, imo.
Yeah, it seems some idiots on here think that’s what’s going to happen. Auburns women’s basketball gets hardly any support at all, they don’t have near the support the LV have and they also could have one of the best coaches in the country there and still suck because in the end they are Auburn women’s basketball and they don’t care about WBB there. If we turn into that I’ll blame some of the idiots on here that didn’t get their way on the hire and won’t to give up their season tickets and such like a bunch of spoiled princesses. We have some absolutely terrible fans and maybe them leaving will help the fanbase greatly!next year, if the case study is correct with no modifications.
I'll never understand why some people feel so compelled to absolutely beat the same dead horse over and over and over again.
Your point has been well made -- many, many times. Ya think it might be time to shift gears and maybe think about focusing on the positives instead of dwelling on the negatives? There truly is a better chance that any positive energy you might have to spare would do more good to everyone than will the relentless fault-finding.
Seriously. Try it for a day, or even a few hours. You might enjoy it, but you won't know u til you try.
Well there are some other case studies that such sysytems were successful in the SEC ....on the men's side in particular like at Arkansas ....in fact it won a National Championship... take that to the shed and smoke it ......They are providing you with real world, proven scenarios from women's basketball.
