So, when is the press conference?

This team was were about 320 other programs wanted to be, a Sixth seed in the NCAA tournament and that was playing without their All-American and probable number 3 WNBA draft pick for 8 full games in the beginning of the season. Rankings come from coaches and AP voters who have a stick up their a** about giving mid majors visibility that could never compete with Tennessee and those teams were seeded 10-13 in the tournament for a reason. If the top 25 rankings of teams like Fairfield, Richmond UNLV for most of the season doesn't clue you in on the ranking system there is not much more I can say because those teams although they had good records played low net and rpi teams for wins and should have never been in those rankings.
It is not where this team was but where they ended up in relationship to the top 25 programs in the country and the prospects of where they will end up in 2025 and the future after that with the existing coaches.Too bad your intellect can not comprehend that fact.

Just watched it. Yeah that was great she gave a quick in your face response to Adams. I liked her response saying I'm not trying to be Pat Summit. I just want to put a team on the floor that she would be proud of. Perfect response. A little different in DW's introduction where he put her on the spot with the high expectations but nothing wrong with making it clear for everybody at the presser she knows his expectations and didn't back off. She took the job. I was impressed.
What was Adams question?? At work,, didn't see the press conference

I hate to leave such a stimulating discussion but am going to duck out to go watch the Baseball team who hired an almost completely unknown Assistant coach at Arkansas and has built a winner almost from scratch that competes for Championships every year now.....

No, that's not what I said at all. I said I wouldn't be surprised to learn if that was the case, which is an upfront declaration of speculation. I never said I knew, and made it very clear I was only speculating. Of course I don't "know." I never claimed that I did.

As for what I said, I still assert it. Name me another women's basketball job in America, aside from possibly UConn, where making the tournament every year, and advancing in many of those years, gets you fired after 5-6 years.
I would add Stanford. Possibly South Carolina.

Vitello was hardly unknown. He was known as one of the top recruiting coordinators in the nation throughout his tenure.

Mr Majors ,he had a good reputation as a recruiter but what I was trying to underline was he was not a tried, well known head coach who would be labeled a sure fire winner .......the sure winner LV Head Coach that many in this thread wanted hired from a list that they developed .

You can tell a lot about what’s went on behind the scenes from what DW said in the interview. Lots of questions why Kellie was let go, lots of people wanting to go with Lawson as well.

My intellect? I will take my graduate degree and college playing experience and raise you 50. If I were a current player on this team I would be skeptical of any coach that has the minimal experience as this coach has because I didn't sign up for that (Division 2 championships in an unknown league does not correlate to D-1 Championships) and as a potential recruit, all I would see is division two (no connections) has one year of D-1 coaching experience (very inexperienced), she wants to use hockey style subs (no continuity), she wants to play players 12-15 minutes per game (I will never get into a rhythm) and she lost her first NCAA tournament game by 43 points because her team played in an uncompetitive league and didn't play high-level competition (Obviously has never coached big games). That would be my intellectual take on it. I hope I am wrong, but this is not a home run hire that any top D-1 player would want to invest in unless promised something in return.

The previous coaches were on the right track. Today's recruits need to know who they are playing for, their parents need to know who they are playing for, they need to know what they are getting out of it (both educationally and monetarily in the current environment) and it is nothing like 25 years ago when young people used to make their own decisions and moved out of the house by 18 and didn't move back home to live in the basement if things didn't go well. So they need that long relationship that Kellie was building with the upcoming recruits. Everyone on here can say, that the pandemic did not stop Kim, Dawn, Gino, or Tara from recruiting high school recruits. Well, your long-term coaches have had relationships with these top-tier players for years, generally 5-6 before getting that commitment out of high school. Kellie and company were right there with this 2025 class and beyond.

Just watched the Press conference. Except for the abrupt ending (which could and should have been much better choreographed), I did not think it was particularly awkward.

White's intro was fine if boilerplate and much better than Fulmer's intro for Kellie (which was a comical train wreck).

CKC's statement was pretty much what you would expect. Honored to be the coach of this storied program; she is not Pat Summitt, she is here to win; "where gonna be the hardest working team in the country". I did like the dagger stare thrown at John Adams. I think he is still picking up pieces of his ego. Three cheers for not bringing her hubbie on staff and avoiding all the ? that would have been raised.
