if Trooper is so awesome why has been without a job for the last two months? Maybe because any team with half a brain doesn't want the NCAA interest hiring him would bring. But yeah, that is just what Tennessee needs.

Trooper would be the nail in the coffin for this program. Anyone that says we should hire him is oblivious to what a piece of crap he is.

I hope you're right. I'm giving him a chance. I am not calling for him to be fired but he needs to prove something with this hire. His recruiting class was solid on a national level, but pretty below average considering what UT has to offer. Call it as you see it but we should have gotten some more and higher rated recruits. But hey, he hasn't coach a game....

On the other hand since nobody else is dumb enough to hire Trooper UT could probably hire him for dirt cheap which would be great since we don't have much money to pay a RB coach.
I love how fans keep screaming CBJ must make a big splash with the hire!!! If he had enough money to make a big hire don't you think he would have had enough money to keep Jay? Geez

Edit: that was sarcasm, UT does NOT need the baggage Taylor would bring.

Wasn't there some sort of shadiness with Trooper and current UT players? Gerald Jones? A lot of UT badmouthing from Trooper? Anybody else remember this or am I making it up?

Well, not current players, but at the time Jones was a current player.

he had GJ talk to an Auburn recruit. There's also the little issue of his reported mutiny to become the OC

I saw we can get TT at a discount given he's been available for a while and no suitors. If, and that's a BIG if, we hire him then we will instantly have the blockbuster recruiter on staff that CBJ currently does not have.

I say it's worth the risk!

This late in the game, I'm betting Butch goes after someone who he is familiar with, and who already knows his system. It's not Butch's fault that Jay quit, but I'm sure this helps him from a coaching his system standpoint. Butch is betting his career at UT on his staffs ability to coach. If these guys prove they can coach, recruiting will take care of itself. JMO GBO

I would honestly try to hire Jemal Singleton. He is currently RB coach at Okie State. He has coached RBs there and at Air Force for over 6 years. Both schools show a strong run game. He made 210,000.00 in 2012. Graduated from Air Force in 1999. Would prefer SEC ties, but I like him as a RB coach.
